1250 GS - a couple of small issues

Or maybe you zeroed them out by accident playing with the wonder wheel....easily done.

I didn't think you could zero out the mpg reading independently of the mileage - but will have a play and see it it is possible. I thought you had to zero the trip for the mpg to get reset, and I haven't done that. Both trips still read the full mileage covered by the bike.

It is partly possible - I've now found the menu under OBC where you can reset all or individual readings. However, the corresponding menu under Trip Computer only lets you either reset all, or select automatic reset, which presumably also resets all readings, though this option wasn't ticked, and as you can see from the Trip Computer screenshot I posted earlier all the settings apart from mpg were unchanged, which should not be possible.

In any case, I don't think I've ever ventured into those menus, and it's unlikely that I would have accidentally gone into quite a deeply nested menu and scrolled down to just one setting to reset the mpg in the OBC, and so far as the Trip Computer menu is concerned, it seems it is not even possible to only reset mpg there.

So, my conclusion is that there has been some sort of glitch and I will ask the dealer if they are aware of any such problem - not that I expect to get much sense out of them!

Well someone has cast a spell on you, they will tell you............;)

Haha! Oh well, it has all been very educational and I've learnt something about the bike's systems! Keeps the aging brain ticking over.

Thanks to you and RichardD for your help.

Welcome Fred, and I bet you find a bit more when you dig deeper in the settings, I only found out last week how to get a bigger digital speed showing on my LCD screen, so there is hope...:D

Hey Fred. Did you ever get to the bottom of the average fuel consumption resetting itself in trip 1? Just noticed mine is doing it now. Can't find any other posts on this and for trip 1, there is no option for auto reset.

I might be wrong, but re your power issue, it's not a fault more a smart system.

You replaced the std plug with a 12V plug and are using an accessory , which draws current - the bus sees this , and thinks you have an accessory that needs perm +12v, so dosent shut the circuit down.

if you unplug the accessory and turn off, the system sees nothing from the circuit and closes it down

Quite clever really

I've noticed that my bike also does this, so effectively there is no long-term fuel consumption (1) recorded, you only ever get the trip consumption (2) shown on both the OBC and Trip screens. It'd be interesting to know if anyone has two independent values, or whether this is just a software bug that affects all bikes.
