Last week I took my 2021 (71) Triple Black GS 1250 with 19K on the clock into my local Dealer's hoping to trade it for a new 1250 GSA. The condition of my GS is good without any damage and fully serviced etc. After sitting down with the Lady on the Computer I was offered a deal where providing I took PCP (That I could settle after the deal was done) they offered about £2,500 off the new GSA (£1,000 from BMW and £1,500 from themselves).
All was looking good until she came up with the final figures and I asked how much they were offering for my GS. Was told this was £9,000 as now an obsolete model with the R1300GS being available and also due to having 19K on the clock. I stood up and walked away.
Later checked their own Web Site that showed a similar 71 reg GS Triple Black with 15K miles at £13,499 another 71 reg Triple Black GSA with 14.5K miles at £14,999. Seems that they were just trying to claw back their discounts with the offer of £9,000. I understand they need to buy below what they sell for otherwise they would soon be out of business, but £4,499 mark up between the buying in and selling prices seems excessive.
Checked online with with "We Buy Any Bike" and even they offered £9,000 though subject to inspection!
