I've just bought a 1250 with standard can on it, and and compared to my old 1200 Hex (with the valve seized open) the 1250 is way too quiet.

I don't want a LOUD exhaust, I just want to be able to hear it. The deeper the note the better.

Any suggestions?

Having had the BMW Supplied Akrapovic, which I found ok, I changed for a Remus 8 like this one
There seems to be a huge and bewildering range of cans on offer. As its a non excessive increase in noise I'm looking for I'm now wondering whether it would be a better option to fit decat headers instead of changing the can :duno I've got no idea what this outfit is like but it's come up via a quick search: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135619850151?ViewItem=&item=135619850151

Has anyone changed their headers on the 1250 and if so how did you find it?

Yes there brilliant, and also get rid of the stupid exhaust valve that likes to seize up.....Think theres quite a few threads already on here about this :thumby:

Superb for the exhaust note as well definately deeper :thumby:

I did. Massive improvement.

Perform a bafflectomy on it. Plus a Healtech.
It will not be obnoxiously loud when ridden normally (the cat does an excellent job of noise reduction on its own) but will have a deeper, raspier bark accompanied by (muted) pops`n`crackles when the engine is worked harder....
Cost = £0 and retains the original look.
Decat headers can make the exhaust a lot louder - maybe too loud....
There`s not much in the way of baffles in the std 1250 can anyway - it could be said it`s almost straight-through, it`s mostly sound-deadening wadding and a couple of perforated tubes.

Looks like a Scotsmans’ sporran up the exhaust - well I never!

How about doing similar to your previous bike and open the valve?

IMG_0697.JPEGSC Project. Nice deep note and legal, sounds way better than standard, good enough to not attempt to take the baffles out.

I have the BMW Akra' without baffles and it's bob on.. Nice and throaty with a good sound track to short shifting and blipper action.

First thing I do is generally change the exhaust. I would always chose one with removable baffles. A loud exhaust is great every now and then but try doing 2.5k miles across Europe and it soon gets tiresome, which is why you need to be able to put the baffle back in sometimes.
