My 2021 gsa has developed a fault with the dynamic headlight or associated electrics.
I usually have auto headlight set on the tft which is usually good, however now when light should come on it appears to trip the canbus system and I have no left hand switchgear function at all inc indicators/horn. Also unable to change tft functions.Riding lights and brake lights working. If I switch off ignition for a few minutes everything seems to reset and works. Anyone else had this issue or any ideas before I book a dealer diagnostic. ...

..

My gut feeling is that there is a problem with the TFT or the Dynamic headlight. Both classed as control units. Not serviceable. None repairable. And both £££££££££££££

Did you take out the extended warranty when your 3 years were up? a lot of threads on here about should I, shouldn't I get the warranty? for me its a no brainer when stuff like this crops up. I did read somewhere that each of those units are £1k a piece. Good luck

Sounds to me like there's a short in the left hand switchgear wiring. Have you checked all the plugs etc for water or dampness. The CAN - BUS will shut it down once it gets that something is wrong. To control the functions of the TFT you mention you need to use the switchgear on that side. Try changing the riding mode on the right switch to see if that does what it should.

There's a running thread on a K1600 with left side switch issues. Might be worth a read.

Thanks for the replies, everything seems okay until auto headlights activate. Will try and check for any water ingress. I do have the extended warranty although that only covers certain things and bike is booked into Marshall motoradd for a diagnostic to see if that reveals the problem..

To access the wiring plugs would I be right to assume that the fuel tank needs removing..

I don't think you'll need to remove the tank itself. But you'll need to remove the front panels, the tank cover and the seat unit. I'd start at the most exposed areas around the switch gear first. I can't remember if there's a connector for it under the front at the left hand side. You may just need to follow the wires back from that side.

Do you know of anyone with GS-911? It may point you in the right direction.

Unfortunately not...I'll have a look at the weekend to see if I can find an issue with water ingress..

Lights are not covered. If you ever get a fault like his, pray that its the wiring or switchgear!!
