Yes, I know of that one, but trying to see if there is anyone else doing this that may not have looked at that thread as it was primarily on the MRA Vario screen.
Been fitted on mine for a few weeks and working really well.
The mask is turning up today which I'm hoping will smooth things out even more. I'll stick some piccies up once it's been fitted. I didn't order the adjusters as yet as they get a very mixed writeup with a lot of people saying they're very difficult to adjust when moving...which is sort of the point of having them!
The windscreen mask turned up today so I fitted it this evening to my 1190
Good news: The mask fits perfectly, just takes some disassembly to get the headlight out. It also looks like the standard powerparts GPS mount will work okay as well.
The bad news is that the 1290 screen won't work with the standard screen adjusters and the mask fitted..it just doesn't fit. I've attached the screen loosely to get a picture here but unless I've missed something big you will need the whole set if you want to fit the mask as well...
Sorry bout the poor photography but it was getting dark
I'm no lover of screens but have to say that looks pretty good. I'd expected it to be out of proportion to the rest of the bike but it's not at all and the £'s aren't too bad for it either - nice one
The windscreen will fit either directly to the existing brackets, or onto the windshield adapters which make it stand off the standard mask a fair bit more.
If you want to add the 1290 SD mask with the bigger wings (It's quite a bit bigger actually)you'll also need the 1290 adjusters as then the screen doesn't fit.
Without the mask I had the screen adjusted full up with the adapters in the high position and I was getting smooth airflow (I'm 6'0" and usually have the seat set to high) with a small amount of turbulence around my chin. I think that was from the hole at the bottom of the screen which the mask deflects up the inside.
All in all its eminently usable without all the bells me whistles but I'm going all in!
Thanks for the feedback, Jim. I'll probably just buy the screen to begin with and see how it goes. I was out this afternoon on mine and wearing my new Shoei Hornet Adv with MRA Vario fitted. The Shoei is much better than my TourX was in the head buffeting stakes, so the 1290 screen will be another interesting option.
I have the screen and the mounts and much better than the std screen. But when on high setting a big space under the screen. I was out on a breezy day and going fast to try it. A lot of wind on my chest ( almost like a sports bike ) not sure if it was from the gap or the weather. Also wondered if it was the gap what happened when it rains? Only one way to find out. Ordered the Mask!
Theres a guy on Adventure Rider (Italian chap) who's said you also need the instrument/headlight surround. It seems to be two piece but goes all the way down between the forks... I'm not averse to experimenting but it looks like you'll have to take a significant part of the bike to bits to replace that....Any thoughts?
I've read somewhere that with four small rubber washers to space the screen out slightly, it will have the full movement of the height adjusters. No doubt I'll find out soon enough as I have a SA screen on order.
