Good if they did although the photo is clearly the 1290 SAR with little changed from the 2023 other than the headlight.
There again I cannot read German so no idea what the article actually says
“KTM's new generation of the 1290 Super Adventure has been on the market since spring 2021 and yet the next model update is already casting its shadow. We can show a first test vehicle here. In order to be able to add more after the appearance of the BMW R 1300 GS, a comprehensive facelift is being worked on in Mattighofen. Part of the development effort is apparently concentrated on updates to the engine.

More than just cosmetics
However, anyone expecting only cosmetic innovations is wrong: Modifications can be seen on the engine block as well as on the cylinder heads and valve covers. The manifolds appear to have a larger diameter, which in view of the unchanged manifold routing should indicate an increase in torque. However, the top performance should hardly change and remain at around 160 hp. Some of the innovations are therefore likely to be aimed at the Euro 5+/Euro 5b emissions standard and thus primarily lead to improvements in running smoothness and noise comfort.
Soft close, new design and new models
In addition, the lamp design will also change, as indicated by the lamps temporarily installed on this new model prototype. A 3-D look can be expected, as will also be the case with the 950 Duke and probably later also with the 1290 Super Duke. The market launch is not expected until the turn of the year 2024/2025.
But there will also be innovations in the chassis and safety system. Prototypes were seen that, as before, were equipped with semi-active suspension, but a new front wheel fork seems to be used. However, a system with changeable spring preloads like BMW's SAF Next is not to be expected, but an automatic lowering system à la Harley-Davidson Pan America. Later, the range of models will also be expanded to include a sportier model with a 17-inch front wheel, fully adjustable chassis and other sporty features, which will probably be known as the SMT or SMC all-purpose weapon. What all models will have in common, however, is that they will have a modified cover to make the new variants visually distinguishable.
