1290 super adventure pic!

Have to say on first impressions, I can't see me rushing out to change my 1190 for the 1290 SA. It is in all probability a good bike, but in the same vein as I never desired a GSA, I don't see me wanting or needing this new enlarged version.
Yes, there are a few new features that no doubt will have improved the overall package, but do I need cruise control/active suspension/larger fuel tank ? Hardly think so. But it will appeal to many others, so job done as far as KTM goes.

Yep another lard arse :blast

Is that at me or the bike :D

Sorry, but this faux off road thing is wearing thin. Too much expensive plastic to get broken, too many shitty electrical connections to get wet and the bikes are fat, ugly and are frankly ridiculous.

The 950/990 were purposeful, worked on road and off road and had more than enough ooompf, they just needed to 10-15 mpg more economical.

Bikers really are a bunch of thick cnuts who keep buying into this bollocks. It just a willy waving exercise as most can't ride an faster on their 150bhp than they could on 100BHP.
Knobs the lot of ya :D

Where does the 'faux off road' thing come from re the 1290 - seriously? I've seen no pretence than it's anything other than a fast tourer that might be more capable down an unmettled road than, say, an RT?

If you're refering to the 1190 then every comparison I've seen between the 1190R and the 950/990 says the 1190 is more capable off road - not that that matters one jot to me 'cos I can't even ride my Tomos off road with any level of skill :D

I think the main problem here is some sort of inverse snobbery where something that was once cool has now come to the masses, become devalued in the eyes of those snobs and then railed against in order to try and maintain their egos? :P

Haven't seen it yet, but apparently there are spy pics of a new 1290 sport touring model being trialled in MCN this week.

The pretence is Super Adventure, off road styling but designed for road use. Heavier and much more complicated than the bike that KTM didn't believe in enough to let the two gimps ride around the world.

Maybe if they'd have called it the sooper dooper adventure and new owners were given free nights accommodation at all Hilton hotels, whilst they are having their adventures, it may wash :D

As for snobbery, 15k on a motorcycle! All this electrickery and over complication is driving real world bikes out of the grasp of the working class and straight into the hands of the snobs.

I hope Honda get it right cause this is absolute bollocks in a hand made, wooden veneered, silk lined presentation case!

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

wah wah wah. the nasty company's not making the bike i think they ought to

Fully fuelled 1190R - 235kg
Fully fuelled 990 - 230kg

Gosh, a whole 5kg heavier...............

More complicated? How so?? They are both complicated bikes IMO, the only real difference is Canbus which is pretty much indutry standard on cars and getting there for bikes. I've never heard of any issues with Canbus, have you? TBH electrics are defo not my strong point so I'd be no more able to fix a Canbus problem than a blown fuse on my Tomos :D

I paid nowhere near £15k for mine, you're way off the mark young man! and as for driving real bikes out of the grasp of the working class and into the hands of snobs  what a load of bollox and what a snobby thing to say....... In real terms an air cooled GS was far less affordable back in the day than £12k's worth of bike is now!

Oh, and glad to see you suckered in by Honda's marketing guys slapping a once used, vaguely iconic name onto a modern, Canbus'd, emission controlled, active suspension'd touring bike with wide bars - I'm sure you'll both be very happy together :D

And breath....................... :P

Wah wah wah, somebody doesn't like it and I sucked it all, I even bought the matching boots and helmet! Next they'll tell me Santa is just a dodgy old man looking for a few extra quid at Christmas :blast

Andres we aren't going to agree, but a bloated 180bhp soft roader on 2wheel is as ridiculous as a 5 foot wide plastic vibrator advertising BMW assist :D

Well, pissing contests aren't usually my sort of thing so you're unlikely to see me entering into the sort of posts I've written above again but I'm glad to see you admit to being wrong and, I'll tell you what, that 180bhp (I wish!) motorsickle makes me smile from the moment I open the garage doors to the moment I ride the bike back home and bung my lid back in the cupboard under the stairs.

It makes my smile more than any other motorbike I've owned, even more than the Tomos does so there! :D

I need no other reason......................

Hmmm, seems like you've just described the vast majority of BMW/GS owners.....:green gri

Can you take some photos of posters from the lingerie section while you're there? :beerjug:

Too late ... Having perused the moleskin trouser section briefly I am now in a camping shop ... :)
