It does look a corker.

Not for me yet .... I'm loving my 1190R and am smitten. Maybe a retirement prezzie in 6 years time ... (when I'll be 6 years older and maybe ready for something that's just a bit more biassed towards a more grown up ride ... )

How's the chain on your bike?
My gold one doesn't seem as good as last years black one.

Is yours standard or have you put that on? Mine is not gold, just plain old black and seems to collect rust really easily! I'm pretty anal about cleaning my bike and always wd my chain before i put it away post wash to disperse any water, but I struggle to keep it bright and shiny.

It doesn't bother me as such, and I don't get the shaft anoraks who woe betide a chain. It's a 5 min job, is far less expensive to replace if it goes wrong and gives you a far better drive feel. (imho).

I might replace it with a decent DID chain sometime ....

Oh blimey I didn't look that closely ... But it's the sort of thing I'd fit next time around ...

just seen a 1050 on the road. looked nice, and wasn't hanging about despite being *crippled* with a measly 95bhp.

This is all rather amusing :D

If KTM set out to beat BMW, I'd say they've done that on quite a few levels, and to have done so in such a short model time span is remarkable :bow

We have the airhead owners (950 carbed models) and the oilhead owners (990 owners) bickering between themselves, then the GS hexheads, GSA hexheads swapping handbags mixed in with some HP2 owners (1190/1290, R and A versions) and the Toilet and GSA toilet owners all squabbling and scoring points amongst themselves....KTM have even managed to drag the equivalent of the 800GS and 800GSA owners into the bitching with a seemingly confused range including the 'R' and 'A' models and the 690 (which at least they don't have an ADV version of out at the moment :blast )

I'm still stuck in the 990Adv V 1150GSA fight I guess, but for me that choice was and is a bit clearer for my needs.

Watching you orange converts bitching at eachother is good fun though :D

I went to have a look at a Super Adventure today. The one I saw had only just arrived in the dealship and has pride of place in the front window. I don't suppose it had much fuel in it, but taking the weight of the side stand, it felt pretty light and with a low centre of gravity, too. (This is from an 1150 rider, though). The overall look and feel was impressive. Their offer of a test ride will taken up in due course - but I wonder if I really need the extra 80hp. I'm intrigued whether the semi active suspension, especially at the front, can temp me away from a telelever set-up.

If this bike does not steal sales away from bwm, well, I'll be surprised.

Hope they give the option of the larger 1290 tank on the 1190 or even better the new 1050 and then it may well be bye bye BMW

I would imagine you would only be able to buy it as a spare part and seeing as an 1190 Adventure tank is well north of £1000 I shudder to think what the cost of the bigger 1290 tank is?

Plus the new body panels and front infill panels and the extra lights (probably specific to sit in the recess) which I guess will need software to work properly.

Gonna be expensive......:rob

Loved my 990, love my 1190 but the 1290 just seems too big. One of the best things about moving from a GS to KTM was the weight loss, the 1290 is heavier than the 1190 and looks a bit too lardy for my tastes.

Just my view.

What is the weight loss between an 1190 and a GS LC (not GSA)?
