On a 6000km ride. Day 4 out of 10. Bike is fairly new... 5000km on the odometer so far. Have noticed while passing through towns, in 4th gear, at about 3500 RPMs and at 60-65 kmh there is a slight tranny throb/harmonic hummmm. Just hear it, can't feel it. Once I accelerate out of the RPM range is disappears. Only in 4th gear, only when cruising at the RPMs/KMH noted above. Guess just looking for peace of mind while on this tour. Bike is running great otherwise. Anyone else experience this or have a thought?

I think what you are describing is what I have noticed too kind of a hum noise like.......mmmmmmmmm...........mmmmmmmmmm.........mmmmmmmm.......?

I really notice it at slower speeds as you describe and it does not go away when I pull the clutch in so it is not the tyres but I think the gearbox. On mine if I listen real carefull I can hear it in 5th and 6th gear as well although the frequency changes as I change gear.........5th is more mmmm....mmmm....mmmm....mmmm and 6th is mm..mm..mm..mm..mm..

I took it to the dealer and he says all is OK........so now I just sing a long to it! :augie

mine certainly does it + there's another thread about this somewhere if you want more confirmation.

Mine does it in 5th (or is it 4th?) at about 45mph.

I think it's something to do with the harmonics of the tyres (Tourances) at that speed, matching some other frequency in the engine.

mine is more a brrrrmmm brrmm brrmmmmm wonder if I should take it in to get it tuned up.

:blast

Coat, door, thanks

Everyone... Thanks much for the perspective and p-o-v. You captured the sound and characteristics well! Guess it is one of the Munich charms. For sure, the bike has charmed the entire trip and has overdelivered.

The cure.........

.............can't say I've ever noticed it ;)

Andres

The resonance has now gone away! I wondered if it would go away on it's own. Just done a 3,600 mile trip (6,000 total now) and it just seemed to fade away. I reckon it was simply the shimming of the gear box and now it has 'run in' - that's my theory anyway and I am sticking to it!
