12GSA high quality pics

What an adsolutely, bloody ugly looking piece of Crap!!

Only kidding, WOW, I'd love one if I could afford one, but I'll have to settle for an 1150GS Adventure ?

Who wants to sell me their Black 1150 GS then ???

Cheers,
Andy

1200 Adventure

You also have to look at vaule for money!!!!! £9,500 for the basic bike seems a little harsh???? Or is that just coz i'm poor??? Ok so i'm poor. The new bike looks ok but nothing i want to sleep with, no sir not any bike in a stormy port for me :) ye right!!! The 1150 GS is an ok bike the 1150 GSA is very cool bike, the 1200GS is ok but the 1150 GSA looks better and the 1200 GSA looks better than the 1200 GS but still doent have that certain edge to it that the 1150 GSA has got.

The one thing i really dont like about the 120 GSA is the stupid panniers, i mean that look like some frecking tool box has been pulled out of some BMW workshop coz they dident have the time to knock up somthing that looked a lot better. BMW what have you done? Trash the painners and start again coz they look nafffffffffffffffffffffffffff. Hold on i thought touratech was doing the panniers???????? Well maybe they can come up with somthing that would look a bit better.

As for the seat hight well i dont think vertically chanllange people should be riding them anyway so do what the japs do and get some leg extensions sorted. Am looking forward to getting a cheaper 1150 GSA with all the extras for very little money, but i warn you now dont buy the painners they really do look crap. 'sorry' but they do. :tosser

wow, nearly 6000 views in 12 hours. That's got to be some kinda record.

Llike it, but it still looks too tall and heavy. I thought BMW would learn from the old Adv about losing all those vertically challenged customers. Obviously not.

SH1T, SH1T, SH1T - I'm away from my PC for one freekin day & I get a mail from the dealer to say the 12GSA will be at the NEC (thank god I've booked the flights :D ) & then find this post & pics ( thanks Zmeagol :bow :bow )

I think its the puppies privates :clap so 'kin

Anyone wanna buy my kids ( b4 I put them on ebay ;) - you lot can have first dibs :D :D Would prefer to sell them together but will split if there's more interest in single units ;)

Gotta gotta get one :coold :coold

Dear Santa.......

Bilks.

Too bloody true :( Having decided in March that it wouldn't be worth waiting for, I got an 1150 GSA, and now they bring out this!! I think it looks the dogs. Luckily there will be so many people buying them to start with that I'm sure I will be able to hold out for a little while before I give in to the inevitable. :)

Charles

Hmmm.....I like it as well....very nicely done and from those pics at least answers most if not all of my previous reservations about the 1200.

SOmeone mentioned the Hazard switch being removed........take a look at the left hand indicator switxh...the symbol's there (and I presume on the other side as well) and as on the 12, you push both together to get hazards up.

What's the other button on the top of the left hand switchgear though???

And I think people may be wrong about the supposition that this is going to need a year or two to bed in.......what do you think the 1200GS was for??

There's nothing 'new' on this GSA that should cause any probs...bigger tanks and crash bars don't cause any additional problems and the rest of it has pretty much been sorted by the reports from the test pilots who bought the vanilla 12 ;)

I mentioned two years because people are still having problems with 1200's, I think three and a half years on from the first 1200's off the line will be enough for me to trust what BM are selling.

Took them a while to sort ot those dodgy 1100's and realise they needed another 50cc's ;)

The BC button is for the Bord Computer (onboard computer). The picture below also shows the switchgear for the fogs (that takes a second switch) and a second power outlet.

Yeah yeah yeah....niceish, but to be honest, who needs it. OK, it looks a bit more butch, but it weighs more and who really wants to do 450+ miles in one go. I'm more for removing bits from my 1200 to make it lighter, faster, nimbler, rather than getting an overfed lardarse bike with a million things bolted onto it.

Face it folks, its built for image conscious Ewan wannabees. As a result, they'll probably sell loads. Those will be all the people who've been wingeing about the 1200 to date then....What's the betting that it's got the same brakes, same fuel pump, same gearbox etc etc that all the moaning and criticism has been about, but that wont matter any more because it will make you look rufty-tufty. Hahahahaha.

Now, now Tobers - just cos it looks hard to Tobinate is no reason to be sarky...

Seriously though - interesting decision coming up next year - have just got my standard 12 sorted to be good offroad and on (bigger screen + tobs, engine bars, fastways, bar risers) do I really need a new bike for a bigger tanks + a little extra suspension (and to look really 'ard as I ride down to the shops). I don't think so - not yet anyway.
Having the option to put bits on and off for different types of riding is a real bonus.
For a really big trip into the bush though, this could be the ride of choice. In Oz the tank range could be the clincher.

It's cool...

It's a really nice looking piece of kit...IMHO maybe the colour scheme and engine bars has a lot to do with it and maybe the nobbly tires, too.

I'm not going to get one just yet. I'd like to, though. But best I think, is to tinker with my one year old red R1200GS first. Start by spraying it in 'satin' silver (or black as this is a cool colour, too) and then add a set of nobblies. And hey presto! I'd have a pseudo R1200GSA!

Save a few grand along the way, too! :)

I really like it, probably end up with one in a couple of years but wouldnt chop in my 1200 just for the sake of it.

Does look Well Ard though ! its what the 1200 should have looked like from the start.

Er.......Maybe I am the only one but although appealing to the eye, I don't think I would get one....... I am kinda glad I got me SE ADV....more a bike for me and my size. Consider the 1200 too small for me.

Great scoop Tim, :clap

Yes indeed a nice looking bike, in a GS sort of way. Like most people, I have spent a good few moments of my time this evening/morning studing all the photos.

My biggest question/concern, and it has been mentioned already, is the dam seat height again! :(

As most will already know the std 1150 GSA seat height was 900mm, this is now 915mm...........but why???

The low seat option on the 1150 GSA "was" 860mm and now its 895mm....WTF????? :spitfire

I have had my name down for one for a couple of months now, but for sure, before I even consider it any further, I need to cock my leg over it!

With any luck I'll hate it.................yeh right :D

895mm minimum seat height - oh well that's me ruled out then :( :(

Anyone know what the seat height of the R1150 Adventure is (high seat option), whilst I'm on the subject of seat height. what setting do most of you have on your rear preload? (just a rider on the bike) Turned up high or on the standard setting?

Cheers,

Ed

air box diff

OK having pooh poohed it a bit earlier on I have come back for a second look.
Bad sign for the savings plan....

Looking at the pic without the fuel tank, it seems as though the airbox is slightly different - anyone know whether the snorkel has been relocated or shortened?

Plasmatron had a post recently where his was refitted with a funky short snorkel.
Could be very handy having a diff system because access to the snorkel would be limited by the bars/tank/bigger shrouds on the front + the paranoia about drowning the thing would be reduced.
