12k mile Service Cost in UK

I'm sure someone as clever as you seem to think you are can work it out from the information provided.

Yup, but you can never be too sure about the others. They are already distracted and telling everyone about the awesome loan bikes.

Appreciate the feedback on costs - I've not got to 12K miles on any of my bikes for years so don't know what's realistic.

Re Tyres - approx £380 fitted

Service includes:
oil / filter change
brake fluid change
valve clearance check
spark plug replacement
air filter change
Cardan shaft inspection / lube

Nb - I'm a spreadsheet expert so any of you tossers want any help please just let me know.(y)

I'm paying circa £520 for that service - tyres at £380 would be £900 - bet you could get tyres cheaper away from the dealer...

Apparently my bike is taking ages for the software update so, I’ll have to collect tomorrow, or they’ve fucked something up and need more time to cover up the fuck up, either way, I’ll get to blast around on the 1300 tomorrow, which I do like, a lot.

Any idea if your service includes the same items. Can't see why it would be any different - mine also at Vertu.
Dealers will set their own prices according to regional locality. Sounds like your (Exeter?) Vertu dealer thinks it will be too much hassle for you to ride elsewhere, perhaps…

You can get fitted tyres cheaper than a dealer if you phone around, as posted earlier by Twizzle. My dealer didn’t want to negotiate on tyres so they missed over £400. Which I found a bit odd.

The guys themselves in Exeter are all good - but dealing with Vertu is a drag at every level.
Main reason to get the tyres there with the service is time constraint - in Spain most of June then heading straight out to Eastern Europe so I don't have the time to pick and choose to be honest.

My dealer is good and I’m happy with what they do but when it comes to tyres, they just need to sharpen their pencils.
Or, have the ability to “deal” - they have to do that when selling the machines…

I replaced tyres recently for a continental tour (old ones still had probably 750 miles left but I always feel they get puncture-prone when tread depths are reduced) and a tyres were available for next day fitting at another outlet. 👍

Order the tyres online and have them fitted to loose wheels to suit you at the tyre place opposite Speed motorcycles at bit further into Marsh Barton.

Mine was the same, £543 max, including removing/refitting crash bars and shims if needed. Obviously it didn’t need shims, got to trust them on that.
Bars were removed though, I can see that.

Cost of servicing my new to me K reg. Yamaha FJ1200Abs.......nothing, they said, No its too old we wont look at it for you. :firemth:eh A few Cursed words Later! I did it all myself..........After finding the time.

Improvements I only had to make to it at 12,000 miles, was higher screen which I had already, Buel lowering pegs, modified to fit, Kawazaki Zx12r mirrors best mirrors of all the bikes I've owned, modified to fit, lower fairing as old one was damaged. That's it, sold 2 years ago.

Haha - that's brilliant! First big bike ever I owned and probably all the bike I ever needed.
