Just had some work done on my 52 ADV at CW Motorcycles in Dorchester - a well respected firm I see from the other threads. While I was there I asked how much a 12K service would be and was shocked when quoted £340. Out of interest I asked Ocean in Plymouth and they wanted about £290, so it looks like you paid the going (BMW) rate.
One thing to bare in mind I suppose is that any recall work (or do they call it enhancements) willl be added to the bike during the service just like Ocean did at my 6K service. The exhaust clamps were changed for some reason - don't know why but BMW wanted them changed. Using a non franchised dealer, or taking the DIY route means these little extras wouldn't happen. If you asked for them I wonder if they would give them to you f.o.c?
Never serviced a bike before and I see the service manual regularly advertised on ebay as a CDrom. Is it worth the effort and do you need a diagnostic computer to politely ask the bike if it's suffered any faults recently?
What are the alternatives?
