....would be interesting to know. Mine is due for the same service and I was planning on doing the normal service bits (filters and oil) myself and then let BMW do the clearance check and reset of service indicator.
Just recently traded in f800s (more or less same engine)for gs, the s was serviced at 12,000 and the valves were fine. The next check would be at 24,000, from what I have heard they usually don`t need adjusting at 12,000, I am sure someone will disagree!!
At my wifes GS650 12000m service the local dealer suggested we waited until 18000 before checking, they have serviced lots of F800st (Very similar valve setup) and never adjusted one before 24000. It was easily within spec and we will not touch it again until 36000. I had mine done at 12000 and its as new, I wish I had waited because Ill need to check again at 24000. Its a shame BMW will not make the decision to check at 24000 saving £100s for the owner. Yamaha TDM900, Kawasaki Versys, etc all have 8 valve heads, twin cam, shimmed tappets yet need nothing until 24000. (Only bike I know at 12000 is the Triumph Bonneville)
PS both bikes leaked form the rocker cover gaskets after checking so the were actually worse for it.
I checked mine during the weekend. One intake valve was at the upper limit, but I didn't bother to adjust it since the rest was in the middle of the spec.
Mine checked at Alan Jefferies today , bike only done 9 K F650GS but the opted to do it. Asked technician he said they were all within spec only downside is seal kit (out of warranty and oil seepage cost £38)
