I have just got back from my dealers today (warranty repair on my 1200GS) and they have informed me that the new 1200GS Adventure will be on show. I didn't even know that they were developing a new Adventure?
I have been busy of late so perhaps I am a tad behind the news. Does anyone out there know more?
While I am writing the repair on my bike was due to the plastic side cover being blown open while I was riding at about 80 - 90 mph. the quick release screw fixings held fast so the panel bent the aluminium panel that the screw fixings attach to. Has this happened to anyone else out there?

Yup, happened to me on the RHS panel, and the previous owner on the LHS panel. Both panels have now been drilled with a small drill bit to accept cable-ties as a means of securing them properly on the inside rather than that useless plastic Dzus fastener that doesn't work. It hasn't happened to me since despite plenty of off-roading and brisk on-roading.

Gordy you will find quite a few of us have had the problem , normally made worse when you have a tank cover fitted. See this thread with the various solutions:-

Hi,
This happened to me on both sides two weeks apart - really not very good especially for the car who was behind me on the first occasion. According to BMW this has never happened before mmmmmm

No - never happened to me (despite some very 'technical' off roading ) and we've only had a very few complaints of this on the site.

Having said that, the front connectors are a right pain in the arras to get right. I like the cable tie solution

Thanks for all your replies. I will do the cable tie thing. Blobbs you should be successful with your warranty claim as I had no trouble with my dealers so I presume it is the same with all dealers. My dealer by the way is Prestige of Bexleyheath.
