Just picked up my 1300 and had a couple of suspension/ride height errors flash up. I switched off and started back up again and it was fine. I was close to the dealer so took it back and Service said not to worry, it's command should be addressed in a software update.

I know there are some electrical gremlins and have seen this online, but is this pretty common, have many of you experienced this or know what is causing it?

TIA.

No, not had that on mine

Hi,
Yep, I had the same thing at about 300 miles, pre 1st Service.
When the panel lit up like a Christmas Tree, I stopped in a car park, phoned BMW breakdown and suggested they might like to collect the machine, take it to the dealer (one of the many warnings on the panel said to take it to nearest dealer), and taxi me home.
They delivered the bike back the next afternoon, and reported that there were quite a few software up-dates that the bike needed.
So, great service by both the Dealer and BMW UK Breakdown, and I only lost a mornings riding.

Mind you, I'm only at 1500 miles now!

As per my earlier post, my mate is now almost up to 2,000 miles on his 1300 - and only on his second engine.

On a positive note, the second engine seems to be fine and he really loves the bike…:D
Not trying to be obtuse, why didn't he reject the bike? When that happened to me in 2013, the dealer told me to reject it. Actually it happened twice, second time in 2016.

It's a good question - I probably would have done. However, he's a huge customer of whatever Chandler's are calling themselves these days (bikes and cars) and he felt they and BMW UK handled it very well and were generous in their compensation, so he decided to stick with it. I guess time will tell the wisdom of the decision...

My new bike has displayed the following warning on 3 occasions in the first 500 miles.
Is this the same message you were referring to?

It was a while ago, but the messages look kinda familiar. My messages came rattling through so fast, that I could barely keep up reading them! The bike just needed some software up dates, and all has been good since.

They're the 3 warning lights I had, software upgrade seems to have sorted it at the 2nd attempt I might add🤞

I thought that
Lazy prep from a dealership
Plug it in, just before handover and see what it needs
Dealers don’t do any prep anymore. They just hand over the bike. All BMW bikes in the UK have their PDI carried out by SCH Motoprep in Southampton.
