Tick the box, it’s brilliant

Flat footing and getting on and off the bike is as easy as a roadster for me and wifey

Then when I’m moving I’ve got the usual GS “commanding view” and I can dangle my legs straight if I get arse ache without my feet touching the ground
(not ridden it long enough to get arse ache yet)

I love it (y)

Not having ridden one but being less tall I would need this, should I ever decide to get the 1300. But...... I've seen somewhere that it does take some time to drop to the lower setting which could catch riders out if they have to do an emergency stop, expecting it to be in stumpy setting when they go to put their foot down only to find it's not there yet?

Now we just need an aftermarket version of this for the earlier bikes...
My just traded in 1250GS was factory lowered, simple, reliable as in feck all to go wrong and £140. Ride height reduction is £490 plus another £50 for the low comfort seat. Kerchinggggggg

Factory low was just shorter shocks for the extra 140 quid, this is an active system, the low seat or high seat is no extra if you spec it when you order

There are folks on here who would tell you your ESA was doomed to fail before 20,000 miles and cost you a kidney to replace, unless you had a non ESA bike ?

A lot of these options are unnecessary, but they’re very nice to have none the less (y)

Good to hear, I ticked the box on it without having a test ride on a bike equipped with it. Just occasionally at 5’ 8” my standard seat/height 1250 caught me out when putting my foot down, so the adaptive height thingy was very attractive.

Maybe something wrong with the configurator then as if I add the RHR the low comfort seat is still showing as £50 extra and if I then add it the overall cost goes up by that £50.

Or not. I tried a low chassis LC before I bought my standard height one. The low one didn't ride, handle or steer as well as the taller bike.

It may depend on which model you choose and what option packs

The Trophy gets a high comfort seat as standard here but you can specify low or normal for no extra charge, I went for the normal height
The passenger comfort seat is part of the comfort pack here which is an option on the Trophy but standard on the Triple black

Edit - just had a look, yes the comfort seat is 50 quid if you get the Light White model, it’s included with all the other styles

It drops very quickly and I don't even notice it's done it. Think it does it as soon as speed is below about 30mph. When you are in slow moving traffic it's has already lowered on mine. Think it drops in a fraction of a second but it does take a few seconds to raise again when you start moving and again doesn't do it until you are over a certain speed. I don't even know it's changed without looking at the TFT symbol which says it's up or down.

My GSA is "Seat Height Reduction" I've sat on an R1300 GS and it's too tall for me. They lean over so far I could hardly get the thing off the side stand. I don't know if they still do the reduced height for an R1300.

If you turn the bars to the right as you lift off the stand, any bike will pop up. Great tip for heavy bikes off the side stand.

They don't do the factory lowered springs on the 1300 like they did on the 1250, The options are
Standard height
Standard height but with the new Ride Height Reduction which lowers the bike by I think somewhere between 20mm and 30mm. below 30 mph?
Various seats including a comfort low seat.

I might have talked myself into ordering a 1300 at the weekend, I am 6'1 and rarely have a pillion why would I order this ? It does sound like a heaven sent gift for the midgets.

Your choice & maybe hard to justify on cost reasons. Does make it easier to flat foot and manoeuvre on awkward parking places. May make it easier to sell 2nd hand if & when the time comes??. Don't think it can be added after purchase.

I have a 32 inch inside seam, and found my 1250gs fine as a st a dark height bike.
But I have ordered RHR on the 1300 as my wife often comes pillion, and it will make it easier for her, and more secure for me as she gets on/off.

For me, it seemed like a sensible thing to do, even tho I don’t NEED it day to day if wifey isn’t with me, and I’m sur wit won’t hurt resale value….

I’m the same, 32” inside leg, I can flatfoot the standard bike but opted for adaptive ride height anyway and I’m glad I did,

Just makes everything so much easier, especially with luggage and / or pillion

I think it’s a brilliant option. My defender lowers to get in and out so why shouldn’t the bike if the tech is there. Up to the individual without criticism.

As a stumpy I've had 3 factory lowered GS' and if I was looking to get a 4th I'd definitely have it. BMW are not daft, offering options like this means they sell more bikes. I remember sitting on the KTMs at the bike show and struggled to even touch the floor. Fook that for a game of soldiers on a big expensive bike.
