Has anyone fitted a 140-8-17 tyre on their F650 Dakar without having to make modifications?

I have always used 130-80-17 but Heidenaus have a lot more rubber on the 140's
Advice welcome :) thank you

Hope someone replys to your query as I am also interested in fitting a 140 rear to my Dakar:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1

I've replied to a PM from Toyo, I fitted both an MT21 and Michelin Desert 140 to a standard swingarm with no problems:thumb

I've got Heidenau K60s on my GS. 130/80/17 on the rear but there's plenty of room for a 140. If you are new to Heidenau, I found I had to drop the pressure a couple of pounds.

This thread has come at a perfect time.

Just looking at tyre selection for my trip to Mali trip later this year and couldn't find any Michelin Desert or MT61s in 130/80 17s.:nenau

This has now answered my next question. Cheers Tim:beerjug:

above pic on 17" OE rim as in 140-80-17
Feels more 'planted' - better /more positive/responsive handling on tarmac and gravel so far-
Those Heidis are very good- the bike equivalent to my BF Goodrich AT's!!!:D

Toyo, did you have any problems fitting this on the standard Dakar rear rim?
Also what size are you running on the front?
On the hunt for some tyres and just doing a bit of research first :D

On a wee side note to this thread the new BMW G650GS comes with a 110 front and 140 rear but on alloy rims, 19 inch front though......!
