Just got back from Mexico...Fantastic 2 weeks with great food and even better times on the 1250GS...:thumb2 Great roads and weather even if it was a little hot during this time of the year getting up to 45 degrees celsius...The GS ran great and never misses a beat on almost 3700 miles...The rear Conti TA3 (I love these tires) looks a little shagged and it looks the ratio is 1 to 3 front to rear...15000 miles one front tire , 5000 miles for the rear tire ( but I think taking it easier the rears could last 6-7000 miles)...NAV 6 reportet 52 max lean left / right and on the Rumorosa I saw 146 mph max speed on the TFT which translated to a real 140 mph on the NAV6 GPS with Vario bags and top-case fully expanded...Not too shabby for a GS...:thumb2 And no high speed wobble which went away after replacing the spoked wheels for lighter and obviously truer running cast ones...I love this bike:thumby: A KTM 1290 might be 15 mph faster in a straight line but when the roads get twisty the KTM sees only the GS' back, but not for long...:D The 1250GS with sports-suspension and cast wheels is close to perfect:thumby: Close because I can't understand why the exhaust takes 1/3 of the right bag...Also 1 gallon / 4 liters more would be nice to have while the ADV tank makes the bike more top heavy but for trips in really remote regions 30 liters is still not enough and 35 liters would be better...GS should be 24 liters and ADV should be 35 liters !
Looking forward for the M1300GS where BMW hopefully does the same to the GS what they have done to the RR with the new M1000RR...:thumby: More power , more TORQUE , lighter 17" wheels , Akrapovic sport exhaust and slightly less weight would make the GS even better and more exiting than it already is...:thumby: Not to forget the nice Gilles Tooling components for your feet and hands that fel great and are nice to look at !
Tomorrow we'll know more...;)

Warlord I sum it up for you...There is nothing better on this earth than experience the Boxer-Lust on a GS in Baja California Mexico...;) But in summer it is HOT / mucho calore but still better than being in cold/grey/wet climates with bland food and law enforcement trying to kill the fun...And I love the cartels bevause they keep the gringos scared & away because otherwise this place would be to expensive for me as a wage slave making mediocre wages...:D
Viva la Mexico ! And of course the GS that loves twisty pavement especially on Conti TA3 rubber...;)

Don’t come on here being all Norcal enthusiastic and positive because the naysayers won’t like it. Next time you might want to think about the use of paragraphs and you’ll get a much warmer reception , maybe :augie

I reckon a warmer reception would be forthcoming if he didn't come across as such a monumental bell end.

You don't get my dark english humor...:D
Or is this better...:(
Rain , cold weather and bland food would make me less enthusiastic too....;)

Good effort that. I had 144mph indicated on one of the test 1250's at Bruntingthorpe and it was still going when I ran out of runway.

I'm looking at a Mexico trip for winter 2021 :thumby:

Are you shure, I see bike have limit with baggage.

Sgt Bilco I would thing without bags/topcase 150 mph are possible theoretically because I had 300 rpm top go before the 9000 rpm shut-off...But power drops @ 8000 rpm so you need the wind blowing in the right direction or on the Rumorosa which is the steepest grade in N/A going east to Mexicali helps...:D Also having good high octane / no alcohol additive PEMEX gas that will turn the inside of your pipe white like race gas !
You'll will love Mexico I'm sure...probably the best country to ride a motorcycle ! If you need a few points feel free to ask...I'm not a greenhorn anymore after 26 trips...
Blackal , claim your $50...BMW Fahrer rode the R1100/1200S though...and is still waiting for a modern R1300S with Telelever of course...;) But a M1300GS will hopefully do in 2 years from now !

Of course and in C-F...:thumb
And hopefully a R1300S looking not unlike a S1000RR but with T-L , centerstand , hardbags and 24 liter tank ! That would be the ultimate :thumby: A modern version of the R 90 S but 50 years later...:bow Just as sexy , practical & desireable as the Origional !!!

Holy shit. I actually agree with you. I’m off for a lie down....:-)
