If anybody snoops here from BMW here a thread what we want to see from the next-gen GS due out in 2023 to celebrate 100 Years of BMW Motorrad :beerjug:
I start and you can add to this list ;

-165 HP
-155 nm TORQUE
-240 kilos wet
-24 liter tank
-TELELEVER
-2 same size bags with under seat exhaust
-option for a real key instead of default keyless since you need a key for the bags anyways
-XR version with lower handlebar,17" wheels and the right geometry not to loose any ground clearance or having high speed stability issues
-R1300S like the R1100S or R90S was...A practical sportbike kind of the 2 wheeled BMW M4...A sports car like a 911 but more practical with a real trunk and 4 seats...a real BMW !

A real tool-kit and tire plug kit under the seat like the R1100/1150GS had would be great too :thumb2

They will not go for 165hp. At best it will be 145/150.
Engine power will increase if they lose sales to the 2021 KTM 1290. (KTM imho is a GS slayer)

If I were BMW or any other major bike maker I wouldn’t be investing in the development of anything but electric bikes now.

Electric has no future even if politicians try to mandate it to appease to the green idiots and banksters who want to make billion$$$ on the C02 scam/tax.AS also where should all the clean electricity come from ? Impossible ! The energy in 30 liters of diesel weighs 800 kilos in batteries I read recently. This is why we will never see electric sportscars or motorcycles!
Think about the weight of the batteries, short range, long charging times, dirty battery production and the mess they create in 8 years from now when they are done...I.C.E. is the past and the future !
The only thing I can see is a electric flywheel that generates additional boost and give the GS 200hp/NM for 30 seconds in overtaking situations leaving 1290's and Multistradas in the dust as also saving brake pads...IF the battery storing the energy from the flywheel can be light enough...
Manufacturers who bet on electric will be gone soon...Electric is a toy for rich people or idiots and eccentrics or people who just hate cars & motorcycles and maybe get 5% max market share...Look at BMW I-something electric cars.GONE because nobody bought them excerpt a few idiots trying to be green and making a statement of having more money than sense :D

Think Worcester Bosch almost have a hydrogen boiler, believe it might even be dual fuel.

Hydrogen probably best way to go for bikes as well

For once I think Boxerlust speaks some sense. I read a while ago it takes 50,000mile before an electric car is carbon neutral. If I have to I will buy a new ICE car and bike in 2029 and probably the most most polluting ones as they will be the ones I will want the most.

And your qualification to make that statement is what exactly?

Renewables will provide almost free energy within the decade. That’s the game changer, not any green regulations.

I believe that is the myth that politicians want you to believe, because they think that gets them votes. Electricity doesn't come from nowhere. Certainly not at the moment.

This week wind power generators are paying networks to take power.

Solar costs have dropped significantly in 10 years and IEA forecast that to continue.

But hey let’s see what the manufacturers do eh?

It won’t be about that, it’ll be about energy availability and price.

Eventually all the idiots that believe what politicians tell them will see through it. This is going to be WMD all over again as the naysayers will be silenced. Can you imagine the likes of BP and Shell just allowing petrol sales to more or less die from 2030. I doubt it.

I don't remember dinosaur farts being blamed the last time the ice melted, so what's different this time?

Petrol has been an increasing loss-leader for years for the oil majors. Why else do you think the forecourt shops are full of food and other grocery/consumer items?

Oil will still be in demand for a lot of products from lubrication, plastics, textiles etc but probably not for fuel.

Think about it climate change as periods of extreme cold and heat are totally normal and have always happened on this planet and not only in the last 100 years when people drove cars...C02 has nothing to do with climate change but is just another hoax so politicians and banksters can make billion$$$ on additional taxes to save the world...What a sad joke.Same with the scamdemic that has killed our economies but made a few big corporations even richer and poisoned people dumb enough to take the vaccination poison that weakens their own immune system to get killed when they release the real virus to kill off most of the population...Our politicians, media, banking system is worse than the Mafia and people who believe in their lies are definitely not smarter than the average german shepherd ;)
The electric future is over before it started...Costly/dirty electricity, worst pollution to produce and later dump the toxic batteries, weight of batteries/vehicles,short range and long recharging times...Plus our grid would collapse if really every car would be electric. In California our grid already collapses and we have no power on hot days with a few idiots driving Teslas around San Francisco...:D
And it is easy for british politicians to say after 2030 everything has to be electric because the british automotive industry is already dead and except for MCLaren that sells a few toys to the 1% is 100% foreign owned...By 2030 noone will talk about electric vehicles anymore except for wheelchairs and Golfcards...:D
The funny thing for all these idiots who believe that carbon has anything to do with our climate is that electric vehicles have already produced as much carbon in production as any diesel or gas powered vehicle after 100 000 kilometres of use...:beerjug: ZERO Emission...You have to love these idiots falling and paying for these lies spewed by a few shysters who want to make billion$$$ of it...But now after the scamdemic the governments and people don't have the money for all this nonsense anymore to build all these charging stations, electric grit or buy these heavy and overpriced electric vehicles that will have ZERO value 8 years from now when the batteries are dead :thumb
Throw away junk like I-phones that can be produced with very few people very cheap and sold very expensive for lots of profit...

1250 will be last GS, China has plans.

Yeah you’re probably right.

Predicting the future has never been easy. And scepticism to 'new stuff' is as old as the history.

I don't hold the answer, but this reminds me about the IBM executive that predicted that the world would need no more than 5 computers...

Knut usually I'm with you but the electric car lost against the gas powered one already over 100 years ago.And that for obvious and good reasons and now green idiots and greedy banksters who want to make billion$$$ on the C02/Carbon hoax as also some automotive manufacturers want to go electric because they think laying off 80% of the workers will give them even bigger profits....
But this is here about the new GS and the magic numbers 165 / 155 / 240 / 24 ;)
+ 30 hp , + 20 NM , - 20 Kg , + 4 liters not to forget a couple of gallons more volume of the right bag :D
Look at the Harley Live-Wire and you can see how viable electric bikes really are...;)
Charlie & Evan had a truck follow them with a big Diesel generator to keep them charged...I guess taking a GS would have been too easy and not sustainable enough...:D
BMW won't waste their resources on electric-junk I hope !
