Does anyone know if there’s a BMW bike that uses a 17” front spoked wheel? I’ve just written off a cast front wheel after 2500 miles use:rolleyes: I love the feeling of the 17” front but cast wheels just don’t seem to be strong enough:( I’m guessing that a spoked 17” front is going to be stronger right?

As always, thanks in advance.

Spoked rims might deform rather than break like a cast wheel? Spokes allow a degree of wheel flex. Stainless spokes are more brittle than chromed steel spokes.

You may have an issue lacing a 17" rim to a GS hub. As the rim diameter changes, so the angle of spoke to hub & spoke to rim interface changes. Saw this recently on a set of 18" Guzzi wheels converted to 16" rim. The spokes leave the hub at a certain angle & meet the rim at a certain angle. You may need to get a blank rim & then have the spoke holes made to suit - could be time consuming & £££££££££££?

What about an 18" spoked front from one of the 1150R models?

Thanks for the info Steve. Just spoken to motorworks and no BM bike uses a 17" spoked front wheel - might look into getting a rear rim laced to a front hub? The 18" wheel isn't a bad idea but I think tyre choice would be limited.

I'll keep thinking:)
