171 mph GSA

Engineer , in the whole history of this forum .....

Have you ever made a post thats factually correct ????

Tyres should be 2.5 2.9 Bar checked cold , so those illustrated might be correct ...since the engine temp indicates 95C !

Anyone know how change the 'Engineers' tag to something more suitable like 'legend in his own mind'? I am a trained Engineer & sick of his Stupid / cock sure & incorrect statements / comments

The GSA is not capable of 171mph. I sit on on motorway at about 6k rpm, which is about 95 ish on the sat nav. my top speed (on a track of coarse) is 133mph, where wind resistance overtook the engine power. So unless it now revs to 10800 rpm and is in a vacuum... it aint happening!

I was in Germany last year on my GSA, and I had over a dozen attempts at a top speed run. The absolute max (on the sat nav) was 143mph with the wind behind me, and down a hill!:D

Been on a ferry/through a tunnel recently?

:rob

Yep, my nav 5 momentarily displays silly speeds when I emerge from the Southwick tunnel on the A27. Can't remember what the max displayed currently is but it is something not dissimilar to the OP.

Has anyone managed higher?

I think it might be one of those infamous Hilltop bkes

Wow what track / private road was that on?
On a serious note though, I wonder how long before plod starts to seize devices like these for evidence in event of accident etc. They have already started with helmet cams.

Fortunately it's so high as to prove it ridiculous otherwise I'd never have posted! !!

Yeah I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I was thinking more generally. Just looking through the data my nav v logs. I'm sure if they wanted to there is enough evidence to prosecute the average rider by just randomly checking.
Similar to checking phone logs to see if calls or texts have been sent and received by driver, a nice quick easy win for the boys and girls in blue and doesn't have to be at all related to why they pull you over.

Big brother is watching

BMW is collecting data on where you shop. If it ain't waitrose you're less likely to get work done on warranty IMHO.

All my posts are correct, just your interpretation that is in error :) - perhaps I should have added a ;) to my post for the hard of understanding.

It thought the idea of temperature compensation on the sensors was that they displayed the 'cold' tire pressure at all times by measuring the temperature of the air in the tire as well as the pressure and then displaying what the pressure would be if the air was cold.

You are also correct.

Seems like you are in error :)

Engineer, in case you cant google it ...2.5 and 2.9 Bar is 36.3 and 42 psi

The pic showed 37.4 and 43.5. Its clearly not cold ( see engine temp) ...yet you post " his pressures are a tad high" WTF?

The pressures in the pic are higher than recommended, the system adjusts the displayed pressure to what it would be at 20c so that the rider can clearly see whether the tyres are at the right pressure regardless of the tyre temperature.
Do you get it now?

Sat nav speed

Can anyone enlighten me regarding top end speed of a shaft driven bike. Will the bike only achieve a given speed due to the gearing regardless of engine improvement? Would be aware that it will get there quicker.
