How much should I be paying for an 18000-mile service, I have been quoted £170.00 with 3 hours labour at AJ's.

But I thought the 18000 service was just filters, oil and plugs.

I am not having a go at AJ's as they have looked after me from the first time I went in, and I have always had great service from them, but 3 hours to change the filters and plugs?

Any insights would be most appreciated. :thumb

Does £170 include the labour? If it does, sounds about par. If you want cheaper, get a 650 twin. £111 in total for the 6000 mile service :)

Have a ring round other dealers to compare but £170 all in sounds about right:thumb

Why not do it yourself? All the info required - pictorial 'HOWTO's' and even DVD videos are readily available.

FWIW, my 18000 mile service was £210. I did get a free vehicle Health Check thrown in though.

Thanks for the (as always) very quick replies.
It’s not the money, £170.00 is about average between different dealers, but WHY 3 hours labour, which is where most of the cost comes from. Or am I wrong, do they do more than change the plugs, filters and oil.

I could do it myself in about an hour, but I have the extended warranty, which needs BMW stamp

I understand BMW set the amount of time a 'process' should take.

So that's £99 for the labour. Oil (expensive at a dealer), rocker gaskets (expensive) and an oil filter. That was £178 EX VAT!!!

I'm guessing you're being quoted the ex VAT price......

Had mine done last week. Count yourself lucky your not getting it done in Ireland.:comfort

€434 .

Anyway, in answer to your question. They changed the gear oil and all brake fluid in addition to the normal service. :thumb2

Anyway, that’s all that’s on the invoice.
