Sold 1957 BSA Bantam

Another of my brothers bikes. He hasn't owned this one very long, it's a 1957 (D3?) Bantam.
V5 says first reg'd 1980, declared manufactured 1957, non-transferable reg.
I would describe it as an easy project. It starts, runs, all gears select OK, lights work, brakes (sort of) work.
It's had a new battery, fuel tap & number plate. Not currently MOT'd & not registered as historic.
I've ridden it up & down the drive & it feels OK for a nearly 70 year old bike.
Asking £1200 ono. Located S36 near Penistone.

My sister allowed me to use her (1955) Bantam D3 when I was in the VIth form at school (1974). She had hand painted it purple!
It had 150cc of raw power that was unfortunately slower in every way than a 50cc Puch Maxi step through scooter!
I discovered that when the magneto stopped working that you could close up the contact breaker's gap and then bump start it.
I did that for nine months.
Unsurprisingly I "ragged" it around Hampshire on the last day of insurance/tax etc and then gave it back to Sis whereupon it seized solid.
This one looks quite together. Ex-GPO? Sensibly the front (blade) number plate has been removed.
The sticky out foot rests severely limit the ability to progress rapidly around corners and you have to plan stops for things such as traffic lights, other vehicles (especially buses) and pedestrian crossings a lot further ahead than with modern brakes. The brakes on my electric Mountain bike are much much better than these.
As a Gentleman's conveyance through country lanes or as a starter project to learn about maintenance you cannot go wrong.

Weekend bump.
Took it out of the garage this afternoon & started first kick.
Up & down the drive a few times, runs well.
