Planning a trip to France on the 88 GS.
Bike has the standard plastic screen. Thinking a flip top thingy may flick some air over the top.
I'm asking as a standard one may not fit the thickish plastic on these screens.
Thanks in Advance. Ian

When you say ‘standard screen’ do you mean the small fairing?

I fitted a Sedamo (?) screen which is fugly and didn’t do much to to keep the wind off. I fiddled around with the angle of the screen but it make a lot of difference. I did consider fitting a Puig wind deflector to the top of it but had my doubts about its effectiveness.

Save your money, tried them all and none worked. In the end I bought an original screen that had been chopped in half by previous owner. Only thing that made long distance riding bearable.

Experimented with mounting a screen deflector on my '89 GS headlight surround last year. Given the design of the surround I doubted it would be effective, and so it was proved. Might work on some bikes but not on the late eighties GS.
It also made the fairing vibrate so much that the screws in the deflector clamp tried to undo themselves.
I've taken the whole lot off (surround included, a la r80g/s) and expect that will minmise the buffeting.

I went to Morocco this year with my set up and it was comfy... it's an old BMW K75 screen drilled and mounted with a Chinese mount thing from Amazon - about £12 - I had another little spoiler on top but this didn't help either way... (no closer pic..!)
