1st of April The End

...so let's go & take over a few car parks on the upcoming B/Hols ... One bike per bay should fill it fairly quickly. To rub it in even more, we could take walking boots & do a spot of rambling :augie

When you say Cam high road is that the UCR from the B6255 just out of Hawes to the unclassified surface road at the top of Cam fell? I've mountainbiked that trail a few times - always a challenging climb but it was always my ambition to ride a bike up it. Guess thats not going to happen now...

I also take it that Lady Anne Cliffords Highway from the A684 to the B6259 is still open. This passes out of the YDNP and is marked on the latest OS maps as a BOAT.

I've walked and mountainbiked around the YDNP for the last 30 years and whilst there has been an increase in the numbers of trail riders during that time, as well as the aforementioned twats on loud bikes, I've not noticed any of the hills being completely worn away! I've spent all of my professional life doing countryside path management and whilst some of the erosion on the green lanes in the NP is pretty bad its nothing that can't be sorted with the right investment and a drop in the ocean compared to the dmaage caused by your average quarry (wonder if YDNP will close Horton Quarry??). Given thevast amount of cash that is being spent on footpath management (contrary to popular belief it is walkers which cause the most path erosion by dint of there vast numbers - the old path up Wernside is a testament to that) it seems that the YDNP could sort out all of the above lanes for a small percentage of this cash. OK so there would be no more bogs to plough through but at least the lanes would be usable.... they have made little or no effort to educate riders all they have done is penalise the many for the actions of a few and simply moved the problem elswhere - or made otherwise law abiding people want to ride illegally. And they are funded by our taxes....
