Got a 1973 cz 175 been stood since 1977, managed to get it going cleaned every thing out, starts first kick etc soon as y let the clutch out in 1st it dies, any ideas, head gasket was a bit ropey changed it, no different, checked points no different, will clean carb out tomoz but i dont think thats the problem it rus as sweet as a nut, ticks over revs just fine, i have a sneaky feeling im loosing bottom end pressure, anyone know where spares are available :rob

Daft thought but have you checked that everything downstream of the engine is 'free to turn'?

If you spit the cases you'd probably be able to make up your own gasket set?

Take the exhaust baffle out and check for blockages/carboned up?,
If yes clean it,,run it?.
Then if bad check exhaust port for blockage,?? clean it,.

check plug gap and point gap and start it, ??.

KEEP US INFORMED. GEOFF.

Parts Mick Berrill Northhampton...CZ not as posh as Jawa.....loved my 634+chair. Are you sure it's in 1st there are lotsa neutrals in these boxes and I have a feeling the shift pattern is non jap...I await being shot down in flames :D

Done all off the above but havnt as yet split the casings yet, still no different!
the reason im trying to get it on the road is to turn it in to a off/on road bike, lets face its cost me £20 to get it running that includes a new battery and innertube, if i drop it off a cliff it dont matter, it is worthless i know, but without such machinery we wouldnt be ridin the bikes we ride today,

Keep the thoughts comin :thumb

Split the cases and fit new crank seals and new piston rings as well at least it'll get them off your mind :nenau

You have stripped the carb and really cleaned it out???

The tar left behind after two stroke petrol has evaporated is usually quite stubborn

Is it piston ported or reed valve? if its a reed valve ensure the same crap that can block your carb hasn't gummed up the valve

Shep

duff crank seals usually mean very poor starting and idle. as yours starts and idles I'd have a really good look everywhere else before I pull it apart
