Think yer kidding yourself the Guy on the GSA is rapid

i thought so too - he looked smooth with the lines for being fast two up, his mate filming was all over the shop, and that's why he struggled to keep up IMO.

as for the previously mentioned dodgy overtake, i've tried to convince myself that it looked different from the bike, but it looked very fucking dodgy from here.

Agreed he's a quick rider, and quicker than me two up on a bike like a GS. I just didn't think he was 'that' quick, certainly not enough to warrant all the comments

I know what you mean Andres...but I've always found its usually those that don't look that quick that are really pushing on (and it makes me jealous!). As somebody said earlier, the lines he was taking and the lack of corrections he was having to make (compared to the plucky chap on the Yam trying to keep up) show he the more competent quick rider and from the footage I thought there were times when they were pushing on a bit.

Thats exactly right smooth and Fast obviously knew the roads as well but he could have left the other guy if he wanted and remember he was 2 up

Well, I don't know what some of you folks think makes for a well ridden bike ? I thought some of that riding was absolutely dire.
Some of his positioning put him and his pillion in some very vulnerable positions. Two particular points where at 1.33 min and 2.17 min.

Looked like a case of the Red mist to me. Putting the brakes on to stop you slamming into a wall doesn't look like smooth controlled riding to me.

well certainly at 1:33 from his position he would have seen the road clear in advance. 2:17 he likely saw the position of the range rover too, but even so, i would definitely not like to have been overhanging the centre line there as he did.

I've got no problem with overtaking on a bend if the road ahead can be seen to be clear. At 1.33 there is no way he can see that the road is clear, unless he can see over hills.

At 2:17 I'm not talking about the position of the Range Rover, I'm talking about the fact that he nearly hits the wall on his right hand side and has a moment of panic braking to avoid doing so. (look through the following riders screen)

i think the only certainty is that we can't see what the rider saw. i still think he could see as far as he needed, and you don't. we'll never know.

i see what you mean about the RR encounter. i didn't notice that. i think it spooked him and he ran wide, with a little dab on the brakes as he ran into the dirt next to the armco. could have been a lot worse.

Not saying that I haven't got any faults and don't make mistakes, because like most of us. I have, and I do. The guy is a quick rider and no doubt would leave me in his wake on a track.

What really frustrates me is how so many folks believe that because someone is quick they're good. In my opinion, this guy is clearly quick, but he's not that good. Over the several minutes of the video he makes several positioning errors which put him in danger, and on a couple of occasions comes close to having what could be a major incident.

Most folks can be taught to ride a bike quickly. Riding quickly and safely, that's when you become good. Just my opinion.

The problem with things like this are that everybody starts puffing there chest out and then trying to dissect somebody else's riding but I would dare bet if it was possible to see most people would get no where near that Guy yer average Jo would have probably have hit the wall within 3 bends put it this way try leading with a camera behind you and setting the pace then see where you would be Just my opinion
