20 50 Mineral Oil

Proff, you've strayed into oilhead territory:augie

SSHHHHHH
It's an oil thread, look at how it's blossoming :comfort

It's got to get messy very soon with some fecker :thedummy:thedummy

Besides I don't give a flying fook, IF I had an oilhead [R1200c is only one I'd ever consider] I'd use Castrol XL 20/50 mineral oil, as I have done in Every petrol engined vehicle I've ever owned :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2
And that's a great many engines :rob:rob..............................

In fact my K75 trike will have it's sump filled with it as well !!!

Silkolene 20/50 :thumb2
As used [in 60',70's ] from new in Rolls Royce and Bentleys...

There's someone on here that does oil in the North West - try a search ;)

I like this thread

Cos I missed out on all the other oil threads.

Is Halfords 10/40 O.K. then - green bottle (or is anything OK as long as its in a green bottle? - been using olive oil - But not virgin that would be silly, for last 96500 miles:thumb2)

XXXx

I have just used Halfords semi synth. 15/40 in the purple container , meets the specs for engines since 1980 ( but does say for non fuel injected engines but I don't think the1100GS would know especially as 20/50 is recommended as well:confused: )

BASTARDS !!!!:eh:thedummy:thedummy

I've been using this for a few years now & find it really suits the GS(1150). It really seems to keep it's viscosity for the 6K interval. Recommended

Cheers...........................Grizzly:beer:

Thats the one :thumb2

Always used to use Rock Oil in my sportsbikes in the 90's but it seemd to become harder to find and went over to Castrol. The last 3 oil changes I did on the GS were done using Guardian . Still got a full can in the garage :thumb

Just been looking on Rock Oil's website and it seems the only difference between 'Guardian' and 'Strata' is the addition of wet-clutch additives in the Guardian. Both are available in 20w50 but the Strata is available in 5L containers so you have a litre left over for topping up and works out a bit cheaper per litre.
Any thoughts, observations or experience with the Strata?
Cheers

Another oil thread........aka a chance for Proff and Cookie to talk bollocks. How long before someone says they use tractor oil they nicked from work, like the last time the question of oil came up!:augie

Palm oil is best and it isn't millions of years old!
