Should be somewhere else
Last week i washed my bike and then it was parked up overnight. Next morning it wouldn't start and a week later it is still the same. The tank has been off several times to ensure the electrics are dry. The battery is fully charged. there is fuel at the injectors. There is a spark at the plugs.

It will fire up and run for about 3-4 seconds and then it just dies. Tried everything I can think of.

Can anybody point point to a cause or something I have missed before BMW request my credit card.

Not dislodged the throttle cables from the round rollery things (someone help) down by the injectors by any chance?

Have you checked to see if there is any water in the two connectors that plug into the switch on the throttle bodies ?
ie no 2 in the picture

Symptoms sound like wot Mr Hinged said. Take a really close look at how the ends of the throttle cables either side are seated into the adjustment collars. Often when working on or washing it's easy to unseat them leading to either awful only just running or no running at all.

Checked it all again but the throttle cables and electrical connectors are ok. Where is the hall sensor?
Just in case. One cable only needs to be an itsy bit unseated for problems. If not then it's time to park it somewhere warm and get the hair dryer on all the connectors :D

edit: The fuel pump working (sound: ign on, whirrrrr, stop) is it?

Its been in the garage with the electric fan heater on it constant for 4 days, any more and the plastics will melt.

:D LOL
OK then, so the symptoms are:

By that description it sounds like a fueling issue. You say there is fuel at the injectors? How do you know this?

I think it is more of an ignition issue. ie it gets fuel and a spark just both at the correct time. I have been checking other threads and from similar symtoms it may be that there is water in the connector for the HALL sensors but I still have not found out where they actually are although I do now know they are expensive. Need to do some more digging but in the meantime the heater is back on

There's an interesting posting over on ADV Rider. One of the comments is that, without the hall sensor, the fuel pump stops about 3 seconds after the starter disengages, so it definitely sounds like you're on the right track.

Apparently the Hall sensor is under the belt cover at the front of the engine, and the wiring runs under the tank. Here's some more info on diagnostics. Although, when you read the article, I think he really means millivolts when he says "yep I said microvolts"

Thanks for all your replies. Thats over a week of trying to get it running, testing and retesting incase I missed something, which I obviously have cos it still wont run.

Hall sensor location

Lookie here

Remove the plastic cover and have a look behind the alternator belt and lower pulley. The sensors are behind this. Try a blast of the hair drier there.

Did you use a pressure washer?

You might want to check out the engine died thread, there are a few different ideas in there, as well as a simple way of checking out whether the Hall sensor is working properly or not, by rotating the back wheel by hand.
