I can't remember if I've posted on here about this before but it would be useful to know if the collective think my clutch is going so that I can save pennies or whether there's a another possibility.
I have a 2003 1150 that's done about 35K miles.
I've suspected that the clutch was going for over a year, but when it was in at Bath Road in Bristol they said it was fine, that was about a year ago though!
The symptoms have got very gradually worse which I shall now do my best to describe. :D
It's all about the clutch biting point where I've had problems. The bite seems to be moving further and further out. So if I'm not careful when pulling away from the lights the clutch will slip. If I let the clutch out fully, quickly I have no problems whatsoever. I also ought to say that with the clutch full out I've had no slip problems at all, it's all around the bite that the problem is.
So is the first signs of a clutch going, or could it be something else?
Thanks for any advice.
Cheers
Dave

hello, generally when the clutch is wearing out(as opposed to seal failure contamination) the first symptom is slip whilst rolling on in top.If I was you I would check the seal on the slave cylinder isnt on its way out.Cheers

As the clutch wears,it pushes the actuating rod back into the slave cylinder and forces fluid back into the master cylinder. If it gets full,no more rod movement and therefore clutch slip.As said, check fluid level.
Also checkthat the handguard isn't fouling the lever.

Thanks folks. Will have a look at the fluid level tomorrow.
