A few weeks back I was knocked off my bike by a guy doing a U turn in front of me out of stationary traffic while I was filtering down the outside. Sadly my bike has been written off Cat B. This means it has to be transferred to an official dismantler and I can't buy it back unless I drop my whole claim and pay storage charges etc.
The 3rd party insurer has now assessed the bike and estimated the value as £2840. I have also been offered £149.50 as the scrap value which is a bit of a nerve as the bike shows no visible
damage from the headstock back apart from scratched crash bars and broken clips on the panniers.
Anyway to the point of the post....can anybody help me in finding evidence of current value to submit to the insurers. I've searched but can't find anything apart from two ads from 2010 and 2021.
The bike was in tip top condition with Ohlins front and rear and new OEM parts like coils, hall sensor etc. when necessary.
TIA. David

Maybe cite some of the for sale ads on here...especially ones that have gone on to sell (not sure if the seller/buyer will let you know what it went for?)

It’s worth £4500-5000

They don’t make GS’s like it anymore

Buy the bike back and fix it

Who’s got it ??

4th Dimension

Yes 4th Dimension. As I said they've told me I can't buy it back it has to go to go to an authorised dismantler/scrap dealer. It's Cat B so can't be put back on the road.

If you drop the whole claim will it no longer be classed as written off?

I suspect 4th dimension or Copart will be involved it this, the storage fees will be stupidly expensive.

Edit, we posted together then Dave.

Yep, storage fees and recovery already approaching £2000.

DVLA have already been notified it's Cat B. No idea if it can be disputed. It was written off and categorised by an authorised vehicle assessor.

Are they not really worth what someone will pay? You obviously have skin in the game being the owner of 1 or 2 of em...in reality, the one I linked above seems mint and hasn't sold yet at £4800...in a flat motorbike sales market. OP has to be realistic...maybe attaching some for sale ads will get the lowball offer up to £3500 ish ?

I really need some evidence on prices for an SE with Ohlins if possible. I thought SE's usually attract a premium?

Such a sha

Dave's is/was an SE so will be worth more.

Visible damage, everything forward of the headstock. Bent forks, lights, screen etc. Wheel looks ok.
Such a shame that what could most likely be cosmetic damage will mean the bike being broken up :(

It's difficult to provide evidence as the SE model rarely comes up for sale.

JB's estimate of £4500-£5000 would be my guess too, certainly the higher end of that for yours in such immaculate condition.

It's actually quite dirty as I was on my way home from a wet 1750 mile trip around Wales and Ireland so that won't have shown it in its best light.

is there a number of SE's in the country that might help with proving is was a limited run.
