Hi folks,

I have a very well cared for 2005 R1200 GS and have just returned from a camping trip, fully loaded and with pillion. I set the rebound adjustment screw at the bottom end of original rear shock towards the hard end of the scale to cope with the extra weight, the bike handled very well. Unfortunately upon my return I tried to reset the suspension for single rider and it seems the small adjustment screw has sheared inside the bottom of the rear shock. It just keeps turning and turning ! There are no visible leaks and although the bike feels a bit firm it seems to handle ok.

I appreciate the cost of a replacement rear shock is a big investment, can I trust the bike and use as is or is the shock likely to fail sooner rather than later ?

If replacing what recommendations for a new rear shock ?

Any advice much appreciated,

Craig
