My 2006 GSA's latest problem, 2,000miles after main service - when warm on full throttle it will misfire and pink at about 4,500rpm and detonate in the exhaust. If held on full throttle it will pull through eventually, but awkward for overtaking on narrow A roads! Seems okay if accelerating gently as if it is running weak. Not had plugs out to check yet. Any thoughts?:help

Stick coils misfiring under load?

Borrow or swap with someone and change one at a time or rather than all of them

You may notice when you pull the coil out that there is rust at the seam or the metal shroud is bubbling Which is a reasonable sign that it is failing

N.B. Be careful with the coil connectors Unplug it from the coil before you remove the coil

GSA Misfire

Had bike in garage ready for Le Mans but missed it due to time taken trying to track fault. Garage (BMW authorised and approved) could find no faults with plugs, coils or fuel and had no repeat on a 30mile town mainly test ride. Collected today and 20 miles of motorway on way home it is as bad as ever and can be held at 4,500-5,500 rpm popping and banging and feeling as though it is about to blow up. Slightly pieved!! Help?? Noted slight hunting at lowever revs and lot of oil around rear of exhaust unusually.

gs911

can u borrow or get someone to ride and data log your bike with a gs 911,then look at data to try and find fault

Does sound like a problem with the secondary spark plugs. Had this problem on my old GS. The garage had to replace everything in the secondary system to track it down.

if the coil sticks work same as a coil is there a resistence for primary and secondary windings,i had a miss fire on a twin once at a certain rpm and the secondary windings had degrading resistence on one of the coils, just a thought

I would say it;'s time to go see Steptoe

Oil or unburnt fuel ?
If its oil I'd say head gasket. If its fuel (Black Soot) -its running rich. Sounds like throttle position sensor.Other possibilities lambda sensors or knock sensors.
