£2500 for quick sale - based East London
2007 BMW R1200 GS - Black
24,800 miles
2 owners from new (I’m the second)
Comes with:
optional Adventure wheels,
BMW vario panniers (keyed to bike key),
GIVI topbox mounting plate and tank bag mount,
BMW crash bars
rear hugger.
Two keys (and spare plastic key).
Service History book and some paperwork and previous MOT’s from previous owner.
I bought in July 2021 at 18,892 miles. Previous owner had it SORN’d for many of the previous years as it had only covered about 1200 miles since 2013. As there was no evidence of service history since 2011 (bar the trader I bought it from in 2021) I gave it a full service after buying, including all fluids (inc gearbox and final drive oil), final drive lube, alternator belt, spark plugs, and valve clearances. Serviced again 2023 with oil, filters and brake fluid.
Points of note:
ABS has never worked. No evidence of it having been resolved properly but there is no ABS light on the dash. TPMS has stopped working since I off roaded it in 2023, but I gather this can be brought back to life with the right piece of computer equipment.
My use has mostly involved commuting to work over the other side of London on it, where parking is like the wild west so the bike is cosmetically commensurate with that of a nearly 20 year old bike. In late 2023, I got knocked off it by an impatient Chelsea tractor (on Chelsea Embankment in fact!), resulting in a lowside fall on the right hand side. Damage included a broken mirror, scraped hand guard, scraped cylinder head and it smashed the top box that was on it at the time. It also shattered my collarbone into multiple pieces. I have since replaced the mirror and cylinder head with a second hand one. It has the odd scrape on the beak and side panels, front fork, a slight tear on the front edge of the seat.
Following the injury, and having moved house and jobs since then, it has barely been ridden (only 600 miles since 2023), hence the reason for sale. I recently replaced the battery and had it MOT’d (no advisories) in preparation for sale last month.
The bike is not perfect but is mechanically sound. I have priced it accordingly and well below market value at £2500 (no offers please) as looking for a reasonably quick sale!
Any questions welcomed.
