2007 GS ABS module rebuild

Job done!
Bought a used ABS assy from Ebay part no CV21-2C405-EA ,was advertised as from a 2013/2014 Fiesta.
Swapped motor from used assy onto my bike and ABS now functioning!
Total cost £30 for used unit and £8.50 for brake fluid.
Took about 10 hrs to do including making new brackets to secure motor to manifold.
Thanks for the tips,saved me a fortune!

Hi, not done mine yet, any chance of a picky of the new brackets.?
 
Sorry bike rebuilt now so no pics.
I used 2 strips of ally angle cut down to correct depth for clamp-up on motor and drilled manifold for stainless self tappers.

The ABS costs people silly money.
Can you post a new "HowTo" for forum mods to make a sticky.
No need for pictures.
 
There is a good video link in post 1 of this thread and a good picture of securing brackets in post 9.

I can't help but wonder...if the BMW and FoMoCo pump motors are the same, why does the BMW motor fail and the Ford not? Presumably a 12 year old Ford has done around 50,000 miles abd will have had more usage.
Perhaps it is a lack of use that causes them to fail?
 
I fixed mine with a BMW 1 Series motor (part number almost the same as the Ford one).

Many years now, and still going strong.

I do expect it to fail as well at some point.
I was considering making a replacement unit (motor + modulator) so i can swap them out quickly, just in case. Even having made some (shitty) small brackets to fix the motor on the modulator at the time.

same reason VAG got done on a class action lawsuit - the suppliers offer different iterations

Ford Lexus and Mercedes select the version that lasts - other companies are a bunch of dirty slimy crooks

the difference is on the size of the brush guides, one gets normal clearances and one is deliberately set too tight - and a few years of carbon brush grime (nicely builds from each different driver's style / road conditions) beautifully allows the sticking brushes to become a random failure mode - so few spot the trick
