Picked up my bike new in Sept 07 and have loved riding it ever since. Been on the offroad skills Level 1 course and enjoyed that as well. Covered nearly 4000 miles now and looking forward to the Summer.

Apart from all of the good bits (and there are many) there are a couple of things that I don't like. One is the indicator switches, particularly the cancel switch. They seem to be far too involved to operate easily and the cancel switch is not in an instinctive position. My old R80/7 with the flip up and flip down switch and no cancel was much better than this.

The other (big) niggle is the position and shape of the handlebars. I don't know what it is but I get pins & needles in my throttle hand very quickly or I loose sensation in my fingers. The angle of the end of the bars seems wrong and I wonder if the throttle twistgrip is a little small in diameter making you grasp in over tightly. My thumb and forefinger ache after a short time as well.

Any advice on mods or changes that have helped others with similar problems would be much appreciated.

do a search here as a few others have had this problem. It can be cured by various means, 1 being bar risers.......raing them up and back towards the rider...

Everyone's different with the bars... Initially I had some discomfort with the outside of my hand.
I'm 6'2 so I got some risers from Migsel and rotated the bars forward and seems to be fine for me.

With the indicator cancel, you'll get used to it..

also had problems with my throttle hand with the OEM bars, 20 miles and my whole arm would be dead:nenau:nenau.

fitted a set of renthal twinwalls, this narrows the bars a bit(good for filtering) and in my opinion gives a better angle, but the result was no more dead arm.

I totaled my 04 GS a month ago, and subsequently bought an 07 GS, on the ride home from the dealers, lo and behold my sleeping throttle arm was back, fitted the Renthals again and no more problems.:D:D

I have subsequently fitted a set of Wunderlich Vario Risers, jusy is out on this one still.

Again as said everywhere on this site horses for courses, not everything works for everyone.

Had a look at the Renthal website but there are loads of different variants. Whats your one? Did all you original fittings change over OK?

The 08 GSA Bars are more comfortable as is the seat ,any one know if they interchange with the 06/07 GSA without a load of Agro+£££££££s?:nenau

I too had numb / tingles in my right hand when I first got the bike - it was my gloves! I had worn the same pair of light weight leather gloves for several years and when I first got the GSA I noticed the problem within 10 miles - every time I rode the bike I had to keep taking my hand off the bars and 'excercise' it. Then after a couple of months the weather got better so I put on a pair of off road gloves.......the difference was instant - seems my old gloves were a bit tight! I also got a throttle rocker and that works a treat, especially when on a long ride.
