Hello everybody! -Just joined and this is my first post (haven't been a virgin for a long time!)

Looking at a 2007 GSA in Alpine White at a dealer! 23K miles around £7K Full BMW History- looks a clean bike. This price seems ok to me! -is it?

Only doubts are, had 5 owners and front of engine cover looks a little worse for wear? Can this be refurbed and if so what's the best way/cost (I might be a bit anal but like things to be right!)

Had a 1100 RS a few years ago and always wanted a GS, now's the time!

Will be using it for a 55 mile commute (110/day) & want to explore everywhere that i've read about for the last 5 years!

hope you can give me some thoughts?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum mate....:D

I bought a 2007 GSA in 2009; it had 1 previous owner & 20k miles on the clock, full BMWSH.....and I love it!! Since owning it I've done 26k miles in the UK & Europe and it's been flawless. Mid-late 2014 I decided to give her a face lift & some performance improvements so she looks all shiny, sounds great and goes fast enough to upset the sports bike riders :green gri.

My front engine cover has suffered from corrosion so this will be addressed in the next couple of months (so yes it can be refurbed). I wouldn't worry about the 5 previous owners (not everyone gets on with the GSA); as long as it's been serviced regularly (common sense) & has a reasonable amount of extra's fitted (luggage for example) so you're not having to shell out too much money (unless you've got plenty....if so, you'll enjoy the farkling).

I originally started out on sports bikes, and since I've owned my GSA I've not been disappointed.....:D

Thanks Bounce!

I'm goin over next weekend to check it out and have a chat with dealer!

it's got ali paniers so thats a bonus & dont have plenty of cash but plenty of time to sort things out!

Cheers

As mentioned in the other thread, if you can find a well equipped/tidy twin cam model, then you'll be delighted with it; however, don't discount the single cam (the one I have) and the one you're going to see; they are very capable machines & I've had 5 brilliant years on mine.....:D

Good luck with your bike search, and enjoy whichever one you end up with!!

I had more fun with my 07GSA than any other bike that I've owned and took it to places that my WCGSA will never see. The front covers all corrode and can be replaced ( I think about £250 incl). Check for gearbox seal leaks otherwise its a good bike. Twin cam better but ££ are relevant. Big Nicks sale above looks good !

Just for a price comparison i recently bought a two owner 07 1200 gs (not adventure) for £6100 21k miles and very tidy...it too suffers from corroded front cover (i think they all do) other than that the bike was mint. So i would say the price for the original bike you are looking at isnt too far away...im sure you can haggle him down a bit or get some free kit thrown in :thumb2
