Been checking out the forums about GSA's seems that the TC 2010 on ire the ones to go for! However if I can get a mint 2007 GSA for a good price would that be a mistake?
Are their problems with the SC models? and what should I look out for a (apart from the usual S-Hist/wear & tear issues?)

Or will I wait for good a TC?

All opinions welcome!

You'll get a lot of divided opinion......

Suggest a test ride - if you like it then buy it. By now, most faults will have been ironed out one way or another. If this is your first GS then be aware they can be an acquired taste so maybe go for the cheaper option which you can always sell on again easily enough if you don't gel with it.

If it's the right price, go for it as they are great bikes. I've got an 06 with 112,000 miles and love it. It hasn't got quite as much oomph as a TC but if you have never ridden a TC, you won't ever know the difference. You will save a good deal of money on the 07 which you could spend on some nice goodies. The TC is the best oilhead motor for sure but you really won't be disappointed with an 07.

Look out for a bit of corrosion around the front cover and maybe on the rear subframe and just check for any side to side play on the final drive. If there is, get the price reduced by £500 and get it rebuilt by Mikeyboy for £350 and enjoy many miles of trouble free riding :thumb

Geachie,

If you open the below links it provides power output stats for GSA’s from progressive years. I can’t speak about reliability and build quality etc, because I’m not that clued up, and my bikes only done 9k (2010 single cam).

I had a quick look at those links and there are a few errors such as they say the '07 has a single front disk and the '11 is a two stroke engine :blast

When you test ride a GS, the steering might seem slow. Its not actually slow steering, its just that shifting your body weight the way you want to turn has much less effect on the Telelever steering than it does on bikes with "normal" forks. I loved it from the first turn but some find it strange until they adapt.

Well spotted sir.:thumby: You didn't find anything wrong with the 2009 stats (mine), therefore it's the best. Sorted :D

I was trying to keep up with you on mileage. I also had an 06 from new, got to 92582 miles but unfortunately got rear ended by a car on the motorway last November! Luckily I got away with just bruising but the bike was written off! Just placed a deposit on a watercooled TE.

Agree with Chris re: front engine cover & rear sub-frame (I addressed my rear sub-frame over winter / front engine cover gets sorted @ the end of next month).

Mine is an 07 GSA 12 and I love it to pieces; done almost 48k miles and so far it's been as good as gold; it's been regularly serviced (common sense) and has had a few bits done to it :green gri, and for me it's a keeper...just had my wheels refurbed too and am delighted with the result!!!!!!
