So introduced myself on the Be Gentle threads just thought would say hi here having found a 2007 R1200RT 3 weeks after buying a Yamaha Fazer8 from Power Biking in High Wycombe, great dealership by the way even though officially a Yamaha main dealer. On returning saw the BM sat in the corner of the shop in superb condition for 6 grand and 17,500 miles on the clock with part BM history having been px'd for a Yamaha, his loss my gain may I say.
Grabbed Sam the salesman asked if we could do a deal, yes says he so whizz back home grab my partner and all the paper work....... She is screaming no no no you have only just got this bike for us !!!
However on seeing the BM first question is can we go out on her, Sam smiles gets the keys and off we go, less than half a mile Chris is hitting me on the back to turn round and do the deal. :thumb2
Long story short BM sat on our drive in Woodley 2 hours later, after a rather interesting drive in the rush hour on a Friday night 4 weeks ago.
The fun started the next day when on my own opened her up for the first time and found the clutch was no good over 4,000 revs slipping like a good one rang up the shop who were very concerned, offering to send out someone 19 mile journey, no need says I will return the bike Monday. 10 days later with no questions asked new BMW clutch fitted and also found from Barnstormer's Maidenhead that 3 recalls were outstanding, these being sorted tomorrow free of charge.
While with Barnstormer's I am also having new set of Mitchelin pr4 gt tyres fitted and full ACF50 treatment.
On looking back at old MOT's looks like bike was hardly used for the last 2 years before doing 2000 miles in the last 4 months, so my guess last owner realised he had some issues and blagged the shop, who like I said have been very helpful from start to finish even sending me photo's of the repair to the clutch, very interesting may I say.
Looking forward to many happy miles on my first BM.

So all the work on my bike was completed today including a new battery fitted, bike looks like new and handles like a dream.
After one month I now have a bike with 18,000 miles on the clock so would hope I have at least 10 years of use before should even think of changing for a new bike !!!

I have an 07 RT and even thought there are "better" or "newer" bikes out there it's a great all rounder... I sorted a Hilltop standard bike remap and it came to me with plenty of the best extras... The remap gives it lots more useable early midrange torque...
