My first post. Thanks for allowing my to join your ranks. Well, I have managed to buy a cycle that has me stumped. Apparently it has stump a few owners before me. It has the dreaded EWS error. Also since I cannot find any wiring diagrams that would show voltages or what the pinouts go to what it is making for slow progress. One issue I have is there are two Moronic units and two CAN bus ZFE. I have no way of knowing if either are the original or a replacement by others before me. One Motronic has a build date the coincides with the build date. The other one is much newer. The newer unit also acts differently as it lets the bike make some clicking noises and the N light illuminates.

I know I could have a BMW dealer work on testing the bike but there are none within 200 miles of me that will touch it. I did find one who said they would but I would be at a minimum 4 to 6 month wait before he could accept the bike in the shop. I also tried to find someone in the US to test and repair the ECU's but there appears to be no one who works on motorcycle ECU in the US.

I have now spent more that a full day trying to measure continuity in wires. There are several loose connectors that I have not found where they go. This has proven to be difficult at best (I am color deficit) and even If I finally do chase them all down I have no idea what voltages, etc they should be. I currently don't have an O-scope but might acquire one if needed. Guess what I am asking is the some place on the net I can download, beg for, buy or borrow? At this point any advice anyone has to offer as I am all ears and eyes. I refuse to be stumped.

Thanks,
Jon in the US

HiJon

Might help

Thanks, I found this thread earlier. I have also tried a new antenna and the taping key trick. I am begging to think that the one ECU is bad and the second one is not programmed to this bike. Does anyone any experience using a Motoscan tool? From other items I have read you can reprogram the ECU to the correct key and VIN number. Figured I would ask before I spent the money to perchase.
