Is always good idea to check the wheel sensors before getting new abs pump

A great place/way to start is by doing a search in this forum and you will find shed loads on the subject :thumb2
 
Sounds like the usual problem of brushes are stuck in their holders in the abs pump.
 
Hook it up to a GS 911, it will tell you what error codes you have. As Mr Steptoe said, most likely brushes stuck in the ABS motor. As others have said, search on here and other sites for lots of information how this can be fixed.
