Ok, owing to circumstances beyond my control I had to leave my new bike at the dealers and catch a plane home instead, but I did get the chance to have a look at it closely fo the first time and noticed some changes which could effect the choice of bling previously available. While I'm going for the GS the following comments apply to the GSA as well.
First off the screen mount on the headstock is completely different from previous models so Migaels excellent GPS mounts will not fit, (he will be producing one in the future).
Even though the mount is different the screen seems to be the same as that on the previous model
The new handlebars which are tapered combined with the fittings for the handguards mean fitting a bar brace is next to impossible. With the new bars it's not necessary anyway. The bars sit on a higher more substancial bracket on the headstock.
The previous models tank bag will not fit on the new bike owing to the change in the shape of the tank. The new bike specic bags come in either 5 or 17 lt versions and have a fitted base to sit flsh on the tank. Personally I could not think of a time I would use the 5 lt and bought the 17 lt.
The higher hand protectors are in black and curve twords the rider offering a lot more protection against the elements.
Exhausts are the same as previous models.
The new bmw crashbars are no made in a coated stainless finish.
Hopefully should have the bike home in a couple of weeks to check out some other items.
