I’ve decided my GS’ing days are now behind me so it’s time to sell the GSA and everything else I’ve accumulated over the years. First up for sale is my bike, reg RO08 VNK. I bought this off the site in 2009 when just under a year old if I remember correctly - it had a couple of thousand miles on the clock so I am the second owner. It’s been garaged since day one.
The first few services were completed at Bahnstormers in Alton until the bike was out of warranty, from there on in, I have completed all the required servicing work myself, as I’ve done with all my bikes since 1978. I invested in all the necessary tools, a GS911 and the K25 service manual. I have detailed and recorded each of the mileage based services on the correct checklists as I did them but as you can see from the mot history, there’s not been much mileage added over the last few years. So in addition to the mileage related service work, I have also changed the oil and filter annually plus bled the brakes every two years including the ABS pump. Clutch fluid has also recently been changed. There are no oil or fluid leaks anywhere.
Under warranty, Bahnstormers replaced the screen due to cracking and the final drive main bearing was replaced under goodwill. The final drive was completely rebuilt in August 2023 as the shaft seal was leaking so it was sent off to Overland and Classic for a complete overhaul with new bearings all round.
I replaced the ESA suspension with Wilbur’s WESA front and rear at around 19k miles when the BMW shocks gave up the ghost- the rear spring is rated for a 100kg rider with full luggage. These are superb!
The only long running saga has been with the fuel strip sensor. I had three of these replaced but they all eventually failed. Glad to find an improved version was available via Motorworks 18 months ago so fitted one of those and it’s been all good since then.
Everything on the bike works! ESA, alarm, ABS, tyre pressure sensors, fuel strip, onboard computer etc, etc. Engine runs great and was remapped at Hilltop a long time ago…..
There is only one issue of note the new buyer should be aware of. There is a slight current drain off the battery which I think is the ECU not completely shutting down on power down. If not riding the bike for a few days I recommend using a trickle charger or simply disconnecting the battery negative lead. I will throw in the Optimate IIISP I use with the sale.

DIN plug connected to unswitched 12v supply to power compressor etc. and original socket still connected and stowed in cubby hole under fuse box.
