Here’s the sorry tale: I bought this magnificent blue beast brand new in May 2024, full of grand plans — the Alps, the Pyrenees, at the very least a heroic ride to the good bakery two towns over. Then I went and snapped my Achilles heel like a cheap elastic band, and spent the next year doing my best impression of a pirate with a limp. The bike just sat in the garage, gleaming, judging me, occasionally weeping a single tear of unleaded.
So it’s covered fewer miles than a gym membership bought in January. It is, to all intents and purposes, brand new — just with a tragic backstory.

The extras, because I clearly had big ambitions:
• Spotlights — turn night into day, terrify local wildlife
• Heated seats — toast your rear like a fine crumpet
• Heated grips — no more hands like frozen fish fingers
• Crash bars — never tested, and let’s keep it that way
• Pannier rack and top box — room for tent, snacks, and delusions of grandeur

This bike deserves an owner with two functioning ankles and a taste for adventure. I have neither the ankle nor, frankly, the willpower to keep looking at it.
Serious buyers only. My Achilles has healed; my heart has not.

I thought the same.

Low post count. Enquiring about lots of bikes.

Just be aware that Richard is a group buyer for Sytners, using the forum to source bikes for his employer.
There is nothing really to be aware of. Yes I am the group buyer for Sytner BMW Motorrad and we are always looking for nice clean bikes like this one. We offer a safe hassle free way to sell your bike. If the bike is in great condition with full dealer history, ideally under 10k miles and under 5 years old we are interested and can be contacted through the Sytner website.

Is that morally right to be scouring bikes on this site for a profit making national dealership?
I think it would be if he had he declared his interest when he set his first thread here.
Glad someone highlighted his position, I just thought he was a keen, interested private buyer/member.

Does it really matter?
If the seller is happy with the amount a buyer pays then it’s happy days.
Once a bike is sold it’s up to the buyer what they do with it.
And of course, dealers don’t always make a profit on a piece of stock, however nice it is.

How can it be morally wrong? That's business, you buy something and sell it for more to make a profit. If the seller doesn't like the offer then he doesn't sell.

If you care to re-read my previous comment, it reads in relation to the morality. And, I qualify it by stating that I think it would be right if he had declared his position on his first post in this thread.
So, I agree with post 10 and 11 if it had been declared. But, alas, it needed someone else to highlight it.

Well, at least the OP is getting his post bumped. I get the 'morality' slant but only if Richard, upon speaking with a seller, does not tell them that he is a buyer for a dealership. I don't imagine that is the case as I imagine funds will come from a company acct somewhere down the line. As has been said....a poor time to be selling at present, if the seller is happy with whatever price is being offered by 'whoever', no issue.

I don’t normally comment on ‘for sale’ posts but using morality as a judgement on who can buy whatever bike you’re selling is bonkers.

You don’t ask a seller for their political views, job, climate change views or if they eat meat before you sell to them. At least you won’t if you want to sell it.

If I have something for sale and someone offers to pay a price I’m happy with then I don’t care if they move it on for profit, keep it or give it away. That’s their business.

Good luck with the sale. It’s a cracking bike.

What Jurassic Mark said, also I don't expect the sale to go through. SYTNER will need £2k+ out of that bike.

Get it on eBay

Yep, sell it privately and get more, even if you have to drop the price a little.

It's not a huge problem either way.

Just a bit of a transparency thing IMO.

I think we have a tight knit community here. Not just an open selling forum.

I'd like to say nobody is dodgy on here or would stitch each other up.

I've bought loads of stuff over the years on the forum, and trust is a big part of it all.

Some people like to sell stuff on here a little bit cheaper than they would elsewhere, so they don't have to deal with the general public or dealers, because they know it'll be nice and easy.

I like to peruse the for sale adds, and also noticed the same guy asking about multiple bikes, which also caught my eye. So to know he's a dealer, and not some scrote casing loads of bikes to nick is good intel.
