just put down a deposit on a 2008 GS and my one query about its condition at 10k miles is the whirring noise I hear with the bike stationary and the engine at about 2k revs.. I dont remember this noise from my previous 2004 GS and it reminds me of the noise I heard when I replaced the cam belt in my Volvo car with a Bates belt rather than a Volvo one.
AFAIK the boxer engine doesnt have any toothed belts in it. So is a whirring noise ( not loud but quite distinct) typical or does it indicate a problem. The bike was serviced 6 months ago at the main dealer with no adverse comment and has only done 100 miles since. Battery is a bit low so the alternator would be having to work hard.
Comments please.
