Going nowhere fast
My GSA is a 2008/9 and has done just over 5000 mls (had an injury which meant it sat doing nowt for months)
Started riding again...

Anyway, loaded her up with just camping gear in 2 panniers and top box. Not very heavy, and not even half the weight of an average pillion.

Off I went, solo riding and started to notice what feels to be a slipping clutch!
Toward the end of a 350 or so mile ride, on steepish hills (but not that steep) it felt and sounded like the clutch was slipping.

I am guessing that if its the clutch, it wouldn't be covered under the warranty? Damned annoying with only 5000 or so mls.

Any advice welcome on how to tackle the issue with the dealer?
Or what I should do next???

Cheers
Jacko

Depends whats causing clutch to slip it might be under warntee if all the services are up to date. I cannot see a clutch going in 5000 miles of normal rideing so I would bleed the system and see what that does. I dont know what efect oil leaking from a seal might have. It might make the clutch slip. I remember a old Renault 4 with oil leaking onto the clutch. It used to lock up over night and was a divel to clutch in the morning but once operating it would behave all day. JJH

I had this on my 09 GSA a while back.
Try removing the lid on the clutch reservoir, then screwing it back on.
Worked for me and its been perfect since.:thumb
Also make sure there is adequate fluid in there.

To test to see if your clutch is slipping...

Ride your bike at a steady speed, say 50, in a comfortable gear. (so something like a dual carriageway would be ideal).

Set your throttle, and without decelerating, pull in your clutch, and then re engage it. The action from start to finish should be smooth without any rising of revs or snatching on re-engaging. :thumb

(most people just rag the arse out of it to see if it slips!!!)

Ohhhhh ...... and if it is slipping it'll smell of fish!!!! :drool

Do you smell of fish as well Yonko? :augie

Please!!!!!!!! Too much information !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions... I will give them a try and let you know...

I think I will avoid the fish smelling issue, I will only get myself in trouble :augie:D

Mine was crank seal gone.

Leaked oil on to the clutch plate, making it slip

Bike had done 6500 miles - ish.

Take it to your dealer.
