Apologies if this has been covered before, but I have just retrofitted an LED rear light from the 2008 GS to my 2007 bike. This is a very easy job. The only semi-tricky bit is cutting off the old connectors and then splicing in a short lead with a plug that connects to the new light. I bought the kit from Boxer Design in Germany.

Major surprise was how poorly engineered the old light is. The rear of the bulb is not sealed against water and grime from the road and mine was already corroding. The new light is connected to the wiring loom via a sealed connector, which should be much more reliable.

It's been discussed but your the first person who's actually done it and posted.

Any issues wit the bulb warning lights on the bike? There have been reports from dealers that the LED unit would produce a blown bulb warning without reprogramming.

Got a link to the connecting lead from Boxer design?

The BMW lead is something like £16 from a dealer.

Not asking for myself of course, I got one attached to the bike :augie:aidan

No issues at all .... so far. Rear and stop lights work and no warning lights on dash. The kit I bought from Boxer was for the rear light and the lead together. The kit also included some adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing to seal the splice but I used a different type of splice.

Its worth posting here that a) the first TT led light I had the lens fell off on the first ride and b) the second lasted 2 years before the number plate light leds failed. Having firmly secured the lens to prevent a) again I cant rectify b).

The moral for me is if I can be arsed to mess with the lights again I'd probably go for the new BM unit.

....with the cost of the aftermarket parts, the OEM part seems like ok value for money. I'll probably wait until my 07 one fails. Seems like a solution to at least one (corrosion) problem from BWM at last :thumb2

Also worth mentioning that the NN LED retro-fit unit gave me a permanent dash warning light.

Tried to order one of the 08 tail lights from boxer.de- "out of stock at the moment" which-coincidentally is what Bristol motorrad told me
