Hi all - first time forum poster! Need some advice. I have a 2008 RT with 20K on it. On my way down to New Forest for a camping night when suddenly heard a strange noise coming from bike. No immediate loss of power and sounded like the exhaust was blowing or something was covering the end can (like a luggage strap). Stopped within half a mile and realised the sound was coming from the right cylinder. Let the bike cool and re-started and sounded worse. No loss of oil or warning lights on dash. Not sure if related, but very recently got the bike re-mapped by Hilltop as recommended by so many others...
Looking online, I suspect it could be the cam chain either come loose or something to do with the cam chain guide rails / tensioner. After reading a few posts, bit worried that I may have damaged the engine.
Anyone had similar issues or know what this could be? Could the re-map have overstressed the engine? I now have the trouble of getting my bike to a dealer / independent to investigate and resolve - hoping I don't need a new engine!
Any advice or what this issue could be would greatly appreciated. Cheers.
