I strongly suspect there is already a thread for this one....

The handlebar reach on my 2009 GS can be adjusted by reversing the clamps, but the "handbook" says to get a dealer to do it to make sure they are adjusted correctly. I suspect this means keeping the fluid reservoirs at the right angle. So...has anyone done this and, if so, can anyone tell me what I need to watch out for please?

Or just point me to an existing thread (I did try searching - honest!) :)

The handbook seems to suggest getting the dealer to do EVERYTHING except to start the thing (but you need to ring them to ensure you're using the correct button)...

I reversed my clamps last year, being 6' 4" it has made a noticeable difference for me.
There is no real problem in turning the clamping blocks ... i did it so quickly i didn't even bother about holding the bars level...There is no doubt a torque figure that the through bolt should be tightened .... i did mine by feel.

Thanks - I thought it might be quite simple. I'm 6' 0" so it should work for me too. :thumb

I found a torque figure on this:
