2009 GSA fuel tank onto 2011 GS are they compatible.

Keep us posted. I have done exactly the same in the past so might be able to help if you hit any snags.

Thankyou sir.

Just hoping I’ve got all the parts. No panic I’ve got a few days off so will get cracking with it over the next couple of weeks.

Replacing the timing cover got one on eBay in nice condition so that and some painting of the engine and new wheels is first order.

Don't be fooled by the pictures they are not always accurate representations. But you do need the GSA pipework one as per your last photo, it is specific to the GSA tank. Wiring should be the same.
The new pipework I have came with the injectors. Is it possible to reuse my current injectors as I know they are good? Or should I use the injectors supplied as part of the spider?

Will be onto tank fitting in next few days.

They will be the same anyway. Makes sense to use your existing ones as they presumably are known to be good.

Update on tank swap.

I’ve just wasted around an hour, so I should really read and pay more attention to real oem. Today I removed my float level on the GS tank and saw it being different to that of the GSA, so thought something was missing in the new gsa tank. However the level sensor is part of the fuel pump on the GSA so all their and present so that was all a waste of time. 🤦‍♂️

So all looking good.

Painted the new brackets as I thought they were new from motorworks but they are used, no problem just needed a clean up.

New timing cover installed so and sealant drying, new crankshaft seal installed hopefully correctly. Now the tank.

I thought I would hear the pump prime on the GSA tank on ignition turn on but not hearing anything. So I put the old tank on and it’s the same.

Will hopefully get it all running next weekend.

She’s alive again, I had it in my head that the fuel pump you could hear prime but doesn’t seem the case. Tried the old tank and the new both the same. Anyway connected it all up and new fuel in the tank maybe around 8ltrs and up she fired after a few seconds cranking. So it’s new injectors as these came with the replacment spider and canister so thought will try them. Nothing showing on the fuel gage but it’s stating 48miles to empty so must be seeing something. Will know for sure when i fill it up, will run a calibration on GS911 also at weekend.

The fuel pump runs for a second or two when the ignition is switched on, then starts to run again when the starter is engaged.

Thanks, thats what i thought but i just cant hear anything. I couldn't run it long as didn't want the neighbour’s complaining as there are no headers on it. However given its not run in months and i have had the injectors and all pipework off then its got to be feeding fuel through is my guess.

Well, been a clown again. So started up the bike after a fair amount of strip down and clean up.

The bloody aux light connector got melted against the exhaust.

So if anyone has one spare then would be keen to buy.

Just need the connector and I can splice in place.

Thanks
Mark

Well, got another day and sometimes the simplest things prove the hardest.

So the aux light wiring I had run and thought I had plenty slack on the cables. Of course the lights are now mounting in the new to me engine bars. Of course there wasn’t so I’ve cut and extended them.

So painted the engine bars up ans mix annd match as lots of scratches from lying around as I had bought a set of uppers for an GSA years ago.

Always handy building up spares 😃

Hardest thing today was getting the bloody clear plastic air ducts back on. Must of spent an hour doing such a simple task.

Anyway, set of tyres and the spoked wheels on and that’s it. Shakedown ride was short.

Need to get fuel and see if the gauge works.

A before and after below and wee walk around video.

I will need to balance the throttle bodies again.

Change of colour, bought the white panels for the GS sometime ago. Collected them last weekend and then saw a white GSA tank panel on Fleebay so thought that will look nice.

I like the white.IMG_4874.jpeg
